What do you expect is going to happen from an OEM transmission trying to handle 300+ horsepower. Nissans have the same problem. Besides that thread was back in June of 2012. "Supposedly" according to Hyundai, they fixed the problem, But I can't present evidence that they actually did.

A friend who reviews cars said that the R had a gearbox like a tractor. I can't say I've driven one, but he drives a LOT of cars and I usually hold his reviews in high regards.

The car and driver article noted above also said that the BRZ had terrible brakes, and yet I've only up until this point read about how solid they were? Sometimes I think these magazines just make things up to fill up the page.
