I appreciate that most of you kept from going to far offtopic :P. But if you're thinking of responding and don't want to start an epic long debate thread please just state your vote and in a couple sentences but no more than a paragraph state your view of the poll's question.

And if you "lol didn't read," please don't vote. -.-

I'm surprised how even the poll results are. Though I'm not really a proponent for flexfuel, this is still a great thread.

I think it's impossible to get into a discussion about Ethanol FFV without getting into the politics, because whether you support it or not can depend on the politics.

Quote:
The no vote isn't a "no Ethanol" vote per se since making a car FFV does not require using Ethanol anymore than Regular Gasoline(which is often 5-10% Ethanol) nor does it change how the car operates on Gasoline, only how it runs with more Ethanol.
That's oversimplifying the issue. For me even if the cost to production is exactly the same, I don't want FFV in at all. To be blunt, I want ethanol-based to be gone, and hence the less cars that have Ethanol FFV, the better.

I wasn't expecting them to be close at all. The original poll from last year was tilted towards no by a decent margin. And the impression I had before I posted was that it would be less positive or even not interesting now, hence the "don't care etc" vote.

I'm not a big Petrolhead myself BTW. If you couldn't already tell.

Impossible? No, but highly unlikely based on my experience. Ethanol is considered a political issue where it's saving babies(literally) vs fueling SUVs. I feel it's more like comparing a v8 to a flat 4 or more exactly designing an engine for 87 or 93 octane. Otherwise this thread would be in offtopic automotive .

Maybe so, but I did expect that you would be knowledgeable enough to already know your stuff and so I filled the OP with hastily written "fluff and stuff." And who actually reads the OP on a poll?

I admit the OP is not really useful or informative and was hastily written. I am sorry for that.

for contributing.

Allch Chcar, to run E85 on a stock car with DI what would you need to swap out to make it work? Fuel lines, fuel pump, fuel injectors? Anything else?

Actually you only need an E85 base map tune or chip. Depends on the ECU though. The poorman approaches are just increase fuel pressure 33%(not an option for DI) or drop in 33% larger injectors(not a realistic option on DI) or install a conversion kit that holds the injectors open 33% longer(only on certain cars). The ECU can handle it from there.

The fuel lines and injector o-rings are only a concern on cars that aren't compatible with Ethanol blended Gasoline. I have heard of o-rings drying out and leaking fuel on an early 90's Integra for example. The fuel pump is a case of it it fails, replace it with a genuine Walbro 255LPH those are pretty reliable and they give room for power upgrades.

Big pump, big injectors and tune to suit.

Seriously, it's simple ... but I wouldn't even bother trying with the BRZ.

Just rip the FA out and put an EJ in.
