Comfort and lateral support are not mutually exclusive. If anything, the lack of lateral support reduces comfort, since I'd be hanging on for dear life in every corner. Thankfully, the twins have great seats, right there with other great seats like the Recaro's in the Mitsubishi Evo 8 & 9, also the Sparco Evo.

Let's be realistic, the Corvette seats have very good support when compared to say stock Miata seats or the seats in many other sporty cars. However, if say a bench seat is a 1 and an Accord seat is a 5 on the support scale the Corvette seats were an 8. The problem is the Corvette could pull 10 numbers and the Porsche, and Evo and even the Caddy CTS offered seats that scored a 10. On the other hand ask anyone who has driven a Corvette C6 cross country and you will find they praise the comfort of the seats.

Found a good enthusiast site for the Corvette Stingray

http://www.corvette7.com

The car is just a pipedream for me for now but hopefully can pick one up on secondary market a few years down the line.

Post Good C7 Corvette Stingray enthusiast site / forum

http://www.corvette7.com

Saw the big interest in the C7 discussions here on FT86. Corvette7 seems like a good enthusiast blog and forums for the C7. Been following it for a couple days.

The rear looks like crap. I did DLC this car on GT5 though and am currently driving it in the 9hr Enduro race at Tsukuba Circuit.

I can't agree with that in light of the examples I gave. We must have different body types. I completely agree with the general media lambasting the C6s' seats being a total mismatch for the car.

The C7's seats at least look legit. Hopefully their support is revolutionary. Time will tell.

But I think we just said the same thing. The Corvette seats do have good support when compared to many cars. They don't have good support when compared to things like the 911's sport seats (not sure of the exact designation). I drove a track prepped Miata with a 6 point harness and aftermarket seats. I certainly wasn't shifting around like I would in stock Miatas or even cars like the S2000. However, they weren't all day comfort seats. The Evo seats also hold you quite nicely but aren't all day comfortable like the Corvette seats. If the Corvette seats were in something like the S2000 people would say they are a bit soft sided for the car. If they were in a Miata people would say they are a slight improvement. In the Corvette as many owners use the car (and as many Porsche owners use their cars) the seats are probably a great choice since they are very comfortable. What they lack, as you correctly point out, is a level of driver restraint appropriate for a car with that level of performance.

I think this editor would agree with both of us. Of course, I don't think we are disagreeing.

There's no doubt that the seats were comfortable mile erasers, but they are flimsy. I've had no less than 7-C5/C6s, and the seats were not designed to support the car's capabilities of delivering, laterally...
I had a harness bar in one of them, but gave up on it, because the seat back would sometimes give way when I tensed up against the dead pedal--quite disconcerting while in the middle of a run. Whoopsee!

Hopefully the new chairs have some 'backbone'... lol

I think the new C7 is a quantum leap for the Corvette--love it!

I'm going to have to stop looking at these pictures, I've got that same feeling I had this time last year looking at the 86. That's never a good thing for my wallet.
