Have the leaked scans been verified that they aren't a photochop or not?

One thing to note is that the RX-8 power figures are for the US. JDM RX-8 get 250PS and they even have a taller 3rd gear because of it. They used the USDM version. I didn't see any others besides that one.

They compared it to the CR-Z instead of the Civic Si. They could have compared it with the Gencoupe or a BMW 1 Series if they need something close!

The Mid range price has been estimated around $25k USD for a long time. The only question is which will Scion offer or how much for a Subaru Base.

You guys managed to argue about Fuel Economy estimates for an entire page.

Torque: 205nm (151 lb/ft) @ 6600rpm

Weight:
  • 2662 ponds (1210kg) for base manual (~ 2580 lbs dry weight)
  • 2706 pounds for higher trim manual
Columns:
First 2 column are for "small FR sport", column 1 is a higher spec model, column 2 is a lower spec model. 3rd column is Mx5/Miata, 4th is RX8 and last is CRZ. It's a comparison chart.

Top Section:
The top section is the dimension in mm, length width height wheelbase, ground clearance then number of seats. Next is weight.
Top spec manual is 1230kg, auto is 1250kg.
Low spec manual is 1210kg, auto is 1230kg.
Then its turning radius.
High spec rides on 17" wheels and low spec on 16.

Second Section:
This section is engine. Boxer 4 DOHC, 1998cc. Output as listed on 1st post above. Drinks unleaded and 50L fuel tank.

Fuel consumption base model:
13 km/l
30.58 mpg
49.21 kmg

Fuel consumption top model:
12.4 km/l
29.17 mpg
46.94 kmg

Third Section:
This section is front engine/rear drive, transmission type, suspension type, brake then tyre size.

High spec brakes: ventilated discs front and rear.
Low spec brakes: ventilated front, non ventilated rear.

Last Section:
Last section is equipment which is not that easy to understand. First thing I notice is top spec has LSD for manual and auto while low spec only has LSD on manual. I'll post more if I can read more.

More update:

Both spec have VSC, front passenger and front and rear curtain bags. Top spec has front LED, leather steering wheel, 6 speakers audio (low spec has 2 speakers), white rev counter with shift light and sport pedals. Top spec also has "smart entry and start".

Things of note:

Strut front, double wishbone rear suspension
Base halogens, optional HIDs on base trim, standard HIDs on high trim
LSD on all MT cars
Stability control standard
Only 2 speaker audio on base car

High Spec:
Has "high-quality fabric" (上級ファブリック).
Option for leather heated seats with Alcantara inserts.
Steel door sill insert
Interior metallic door handle inserts
Carbon fiber center console trim
Door courtesy light
?Knee pad?

The "Customize Grade" at the bottom is interesting:
- Unpainted bumper
- 16 steelies (says ornament-included, guessing it includes the logo)
- plastic steering wheel
- NO A/C (only a heater)
- Power door locks
- Sunvisor (no vanity mirror)
- No speakers

Here are translated charts (by our members Spaceywilly and dimension6!!)

Sorry for showing up to the party late but damn this is awesome info, the best so far!! Full specs!! :happy0180::happy0180:

+1!

I think this might be how Scion is going to set it up too! Offer the Low Spec as a blank canvas and then offer an array of accessories for both interior and exterior. I want the low spec, perfect for the track!

I have very little interest in big brake kits "upgrades" that just "upgrade" the front. Actually zero interest. The stock brakes will likely be PLENTY with better pads and fluid for the track, and they will certainly be plenty good enough for the street.

I just want the better of the stock brakes.

btw everything pretty much has been translated. the only things i noticed that weren't translated:

the car in fact does require premium unleaded gas (無鉛プレミアム)
the rear seat is one piece and is foldable (一体可動式)
did anyone mention that the high spec model comes with a digital speedo and tachometer? (デジタルスピードメーター revメーター)
random interior bits included in the high spec model:
stainless door scuff plate? (ステンレス製ドアスカッフプレート)
some kind of mesh carbon interior panels
metal plated inside door handles(メッキインサイドドアハンドル)
door courtesy lamp?(ドアカーテシランプ)
knee pad (ニーパッド)
the "customize grade" bare bones model is 1190 kg

I completely agree with your comments about the stock brakes.

Of course, better set-ups are always better when it comes to the brakes.

If I win free money or something, I would love to get the AP racing calipers;http://www.essexparts.com/shop/compe...-calipers.html

i think there is still a LOT left on the table. the tq is holding flat close to redline. for fuel econ and reliability reasons, they probably set the redline at 7400...
It doesn't work that way. Torque and power will be DROPPING after their peak, you rev it to 9k and assumng the valvetrain can handle that it'll probably produce 100ft lbs and 150hp or so up there.

While the torque hasn't dropped much by 7000 (400 rpm later) it obviously starts dropping nicely after that point. For it to even make close to the peak torque at 7400 it would be producing 213hp @ 7400. If we assume it just drops 1 HP at 7400 the torque is already down to 141ftlbs at 7400. Most likely it drops a decent amount more than that, let's just say 5hp, and you are already down to 138ftlbs 400RPM after peak HP and only 800RPM past peak torque.

You rev that stock motor with stock cams and valvetrain to 9000 (again assuming you don't get valve float and piston to valve contact) and you won't be making any sort of usable power.

Well, if you had big enough cams it would.

Not true, you just have to know what you are doing and be reasonable about it.

No, but since Toyota has been leaking stuff everyday now...

They probably wanted to use other Asian cars.. They seemed to focus on lightweight cars so I'm guessing that's why they used the CR-Z.. not sure. Any hybrid used as a comparison seems silly lol

Not necessarily...

Example: the new 5.0 coyote mustang motor has 11.0:1 compression... not exactly what you want for boosting an engine but C'est la vie... there are plenty of boosted coyote motors running around at 6-7psi on 91 octane up to 8 psi on 93, and if you want to run ethanol (like I would do) I believe they are getting up to 10psi. thats on a stock engine.

One of the limitations is the fuel and the density of the air charge. Ethanol is EXTREMELY knock resistant as most people on here know. You also run it alot richer than 91 or 93 (about 15-20% richer generally). Another limiting factor is the lower end... I'm thinking they are going to go forged internals... it just makes sense if they want the motor to spin up to 7500 or 8000rpm... this is good news for boosting the motor. If the compression ratio is over 11.0:1 it would almost be not worth it to boost the motor, to get real power it would need a rebuild and lower compression.

In my car (Cobalt SS with the LNF) the engine is built from the factory to take murderous amounts of boosted power. stock boost is 15+/- psi. I am running 24/25psi on my ethanol tune... that said the compression ratio is like 9.2:1. There are plenty of guys getting almost 500whp on a daily driver Cobalt SS (turbo swaps). But this is just an example of a more ideal motor for boost.

You need to maintain balance though otherwise big brake kits on the front only can actually decrease your braking performance.

I'm good with brake upgrades on all four corners but it takes a pretty piss poor brake design to actually need it, or a shitload more power on track, then you need bigger heatsinks (aka rotors) all around to handle the additional heat from braking at higher speeds.

Either way, for me, I'm sure the OEM brakes will suffice. I'll have to import the JDM ones if we don't get them though just to have them :P
