I'll have to look up the rule book the bronco is setup for 15-20 mile rally courses but those only happen twice a year.

Staying street tire stock is the is the best option because it is cheaper and learning to autox stock street tire really helps develop driving skills. You already have wheels and tires, so the only thing left is Konis and a front sway bar. Btw, that is the path Ninjin is taking. (I wouldn't be surprised if Ninjin showed up next season sporting r-tires). The common wisdom in autox is learning to drive in a stock setup on street tires is best because real good suspension or r-tires mask mistakes whereas stock highlights them. And autox is all about learning from mistakes.
Looking into switching my tires around right now...

Oh noes! You guys are onto me!

Yea thats my goofy ass out back of the Scion Headquarters in California (right across the lot from the North American Toyota HQ.)

I was one of 86 winners chosen to fly out to Torrence, Toyota NA HQ to check out the grounds; speak with the marketing and engineering teams behind Project 86; and get to DRIVE a blue 6MT FR-S months before even picking mine up at the dealership. Up until that day I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy the car. But as soon as I got down the road, blasting at the top of second and third gear I knew the FRS was one of the few cars that could replace my turbo miata.

As a result, as you all know I did buy the car. Signed the paperwork the DAY the car was trucked into Tempe, and I took delivery the next day which I believe was May 9th, 2012.

Hopefully I will remember to put the special FIRST 86 badging on my car so you guys can check it out next time I see you.

Well, it is official. I am now a proud FR-S owner, like the rest of all of you. I have started my initial hard break-in (to 50 miles), enjoying pushing it, not looking forward to the more gentle part of the break in to follow for the rest of the 450 miles of my break-in process. Tomorrow will replace the metal flaked oil with 5w30 Royal Purple (if I am to 50 miles yet, otherwise will wait until Thursday.)

Still driving me crazy not having my car back from the body shop. Shop communication seems to suck too. Gave me the estimate of 5 days starting last Monday. Told me they would call me back twice with an eta but they never did. They havent called windows and wheels yet either to schedule to opti coat...grrrrr

I think mine will probably take a couple/few weeks. Not going to the full 1000, that is for sure, but doing a two-stage deal. Ragging on it hard and heat cycling it through the first 50 miles (30 of them anyhow), and then from 50-150 keeping it under 4k, 150-200 under 4.5k, 200-250 under 5k, 250-300 under 5.5k, 350-400 under 6k, and so forth until I get to the redline (and routinely visit it) at 500 miles.

I think that should do a good job of properly breaking everything in. The hard break in to really seat the rings well is fun, if a bit unnerving... lol The smell of the factory crap burning off of the brakes and clutch can be a bit disconcerting, but know it needs to happen.
