That's possible from some Japanese carmakers.

Honda S2000 had 240hp in a 2800+ lb roadster for 34-35k.

There is no mention of the BRZ having more hp than the FR-S, like rumors mention. I don't think that will happen anyways.

My memory may be off, but _Car and Driver_ said 210 for the BRZ, and everyone else was throwing around 200 for the FRS.

Im glad for one thing. The fact that the miata isn't the only one out there with lightweight balance for a good price. Plus I never liked the way it looks.

If you can wait, you may be seeing some other choices entering the market in '13 and '14. (But they may be at a much higher price point.)

Granted.

The Porsche platform will likely be shared across Porsche-Audi-VW.

I think they would say a price like that is to kinda prepare people mentally, then when the real price is revealed, everyone will say, "look its cheaper than we thought!" Same might go for weight maybe

I hope that will never happen. Porsche is in it's own class, at least compared to all the other VAG's. Hopefully they don't have to share any big parts (chassi, engine, transmission) with anybody else within VAG. Oh well, maybe Lamborghini could borrow something..

Well better question, how accurate is Car and Driver with their price prediction for other vehicles? lol

you would be surprised how many parts all VW brands actually share. Also Porsche and VW share parts since decades, even as they were individual companies.
