I'm no engineer, but i'm guessing it would result in less drag and hopefully smooth out the turbulence. Only downside I see is it would cool off the cat/exhaust piping less then it doesnt have direct airflow but I don't think it's that important.There's a small discussion on the under aero here,

My goal/budget is around $100-150 for the mid section. I was only planning on doing it for myself but if you want I can get both of them done for us. If I have to resort to using a professional to cut/drill it would save some cost for both of us. I'm about to post a thread for advice on what material is best.

A. Why would they make different underpanels for JDM/USDM? Doesn't make a lot of sense...........

B. Salt spray is going to get under these panels just like sand at the beach in your swim trunks, it's gonna happen.

Only the high trim JDM 86/BRZ gets the full underpanels. The low trim JDM models only get a small plastic panel to cover the brake lines, similar to the USDM models.

I doubt much stuff will get under these panels. The fronts are connected to the pre-existing panels so it would most likely have to get under from the sides, which is still minimal. It only takes 10-15 minutes to take them off and get cleaned anways so it's not that bad.

A. Every market gets minor tweaks and changes be them good or in our case bad. In Europe one of our members let us know that they only get fix-a-flat and an air compressor in place of a spare tire.

B. Yep, salt/sand will follow the path of least resistance.

Actually the high trim BRZ doesn't even get it. It's part of the aero package with rear spoiler.

Everything is included and I reused some of the bolts so I would have spares left over for other things.

Little confused here...
So we are missing 4 panels and only have 2 or the other way around also whats the difference between these two orders look the same to me except one is 700 bucks while the other is 180

The 700 price one is for a set of 4, for a group buy or if you own 4 of the same car. It ends up saving around $60/set.

JDM models have 4 panels, 2 in the front, 2 in the back.


USDM models have 1 small panel to cover the brake lines.

Yerp. This is as complete a kit as possible. It comes with all the new clips, screws, etc.. I reused some of the screws as they were the same length.

I even sheared one of the screws at time of install. These screws are like the strut bar studs as far as torque is concerned. Just past snug/hand tight gets it done. I used a left hand bit to get the sheared screw out.
