Seibon FR-Style Vents
Got home after work today.. saw a package. Honestly was wondering who it was from as I have several other paid/ordered gear(BlackVue, COLIN Lights, PMP, Deal Extreme LED's), then I checked the box and it said from USA and I realised it was my CF Vents!!
![]() Here are some piccies as usual.. quite a few pics today. Quite a big box just for two CF side vents/fenders ![]() ![]() Vents were packed very securely. Three layers of bubble wrap! ![]() ![]() Product Code and Manufacture date ![]() ![]() Apparently your meant to use these fasteners to secure the vent to the body work. I didn't bother using them(you will see later). ![]() Removal of OEM Fender vent ![]() Vent Removed ![]() ![]() Weight of the stock OEM Vent. Use a hair dryer and pry open *gently*. Also helps if you can open the door FULLY. ![]() Weight of the Seibon CF Vent - it is actually heavier than the OEM Vent lol ![]() The reason why I did not bother to use the mounting bolts. The bolts are actually crooked, and makes it pretty difficult to mount the vent properly. ![]() I sawed off most of the bolts and just used 2 or 3 to 'position' the vent correctly. ![]() ![]() Bolts are all crooked. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Vent area all cleaned up. ![]() ![]() 3M VHB 4949 12mm wide 0.43micron thick double sided tape. Great for bodykits. ![]() ![]() Finally ended up sawing ALL the crooked bolts on the back of the CF Vent, except for two bolts for positioning. ![]() Secured the vents with VHB 4949 tape. ![]() Made a start on the passenger side vent. ![]() All this gunk took about 15mins to get off properly :/ ![]() EDIT: Happy snap I took today(13th Jan, 2012)

One of the best builds imo, great taste. Prefer the seibon side vents better, keep em!
About the modellista and trd body combo, how did you know it if the side skirts were gonna line up with the rear pods. I'm thinking of going trd front and sides, and go with the aus spec aero rear body kit (Not the spoiler). Have no idea if it will flow though. |

Hi, Thanks for the compliment!
I stumbled across this picture on the net and instantly recognized the skirt. ![]() Looking at another pic, the URAS rear pods will also flow nicely with the TRD skirts. ![]() Yeah the Seibon FR-Style vents look slightly better than the TRD canard type vent. But I have distinctly noticed that the vent does feel much warmer than the OEM Vent. (This is just from touching the vent after a drive) The OEM Vent actually has an hollowed out area(circled in red) so the warm engine bay air can escape. ![]() Compare it to the Seibon CF FR-Style vent which has no such hollowed out area. ![]() I'm more of a function over form(but while still trying to remain aesthetic) kinda guy so I'll most probably order a pair of these very soon! That.. and because it has the TRD white label on the CF!! Gotta be TRD'ed :P EDIT: These(left and right side) are FOR SALE now(the Seibon CF FR-Style vents). $350 Perth pickup ONLY. Will include 2m of VHB 4949 double sided bodykit tape so it can be secured nicely. Cash only. OR.. Straight Swap for D4S(Black) GT/GTS Fender vents(Left and Right side). Hi Steve,
Awesome mod on the car. Are you going to get the Seibon Carbon Hood and the Roof (Glossy one)? Those look really sexy. I hope you will put these in your next list. Would love to see that on your car. Cheers |

Dashmat!
One of the guys from our local WA 86/BRZ club was picking up some dashmats, and he kindly picked one up for me and dropped it off at my work on his way to his work. Many thanks!
Here is a picture of the dashmat. It's a "Shevron" mat. ![]() There was supplied a 4inch long adhesive velcro tape to secure it with(via the middle underside of the mat). I ditched it and used a ziptie, this is IMHO the only way to secure a dash mat. Don't mind the right part being crooked, I was rushed and didn't shove it in all the way. The edge of the mat is supposed to be pinch wedged between the dash and front window. ![]() @lemoncola: Atm undecided to go with the Seibon VS-Style bonnet or this S-Craft bonnet(still need to do some research on that one) pictured below. ![]() I would prefer the look of the S-Craft as the VS style looks kind of 'dated'. ie circa early-mid 90's. I most probably won't go with the Seibon CF roof though, as that part is probably heavier than the stock Al roof. Also the carbon bonnet(s) are probably heavier than the stock bonnets too. But since I'm more of a function over form kinda guy.. I think there would be slight additional benefit, cooling wise for the engine bay

Lucky they held onto them - they didn't seem to think I would know 3 people wanting dash mats hahahaI used a small piece of the velcro hook mounted in the centre but not anything on the sides since shevron put the other velcro mounts on the speaker grill locations :S Will test out how it holds up on my next track day (hopefully the one small velcro mount will be enough)

Haha yeah I bet they were suprised that all the dash mats were sold out the next day!
I prefer zipties though, as I've had dashmats using the same method of securing(adhesive velcro), and I've found in summer, the adhesive will melt and just slides off. I just used 1 ziptie. Gotta keep the weight of the car down low :P |

I reckon the Seibon OEM carbon hood looks the best. IMO the one u posted looks bit too rice.
What you think of the Seibon OEM carbon hood? Check the pic below |

That hood looks very good. But that is actually heavier than the stock aluminium hood. The only reason I would consider a CF hood is for the vents for the warm engine air to escape out of.

Received my BlackVue(s)
Got package today from "FastWay"... they definitely are fast hey?(@GaN-MaN)
![]() Some piccies ![]() Question: What is better than ONE BlackVue?? ![]() Answer: TWO BlackVues!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All the goodies. Looks like I got a spare card reader and uSDHC adaptors too. ![]() I'm not going to be using the small 16GB SDHC cards supplied with it. I'll be using these 32GB Class 10 micro SDHC cards. The 16GB's I'll be testing out with my new Android Head Unit If it all works out nicely, I'm going to do away with the USB drives completely and just use the SD slot for my music. That way I can close the cover, nothing protuding out. uSD and SD prices are riduculously cheap now. Cheaper than USB thumb drives. This card only cost $32! ![]() EDIT: Just to let people know. That the above card DOES work with the BlackVue's Last edited by stevo_12v; 01-18-2013 at 06:22 AM. |

Nice blackvues! How much did you pay for them? Interested in seeing how you wire the second one for the back (If that is what you are doing)
