The track is open on the tues-wed-thur evenings for $75 and bring a helmet, I used my motorcycle helmet for the first year with a little hassle( i removed dot stickers) but now I bought a car helmet. The turn out is usually pretty light 8-12 cars so you get lots of seat time and they run from 5-9 930 depending on light . No passing in corners and wave to pass on straights but after the first session you can usually get lined up in an order thats allows some good chases and with just a few cars on the track there is lots of space to run.

I'm officially a Michigander now.

I've had mine since May. Was splitting time between Ohio on weekends and Troy, MI during the workweek. Finally my family is moved up here. We're in Bloomfield Hills for about 6 months (trust me.. can't afford to live there permanently). Waiting for my wife to find a job to figure out where we'll buy a house for good.

I'll have my BRZ garaged until the snow is gone.. so like June? lol

Hopefully I can make an event or meet.. would like to get to know some of the local folks and make some "car guy" friends.

It's not as bad up here as you think... weather is usually bitter cold in February, but you should be able to get the car out around late March early April timeframe after a few good days of rain to wash away the road salt..

Come out at join us with the Detroit Region SCCA (detroit-scca.org)! I know we've got myself and 1 other forum member running RTR this year locally.

I'd be really interested in doing some track time. Motorcycle helmet...do you ride also? I'd be even more interested to take my bike to the track.

Do it! I'll be running both Grattan and Gingergman fairly frequently this summer on a bike if you're interested. Also planning on a few evenings at Gingerman in the BRZ.

HOLY CRAP is car insurance expensive in MI. I'm disgusted..

In Ohio I paid around $700 every 6 months for all three vehicles. I just got a quote for $1980 here in MI. Same coverage on everything except the MI personal injury thing.

My wife and I have three cars.. 2012 Sonata that she drives, a 98 Civic that I daily drive, and the 13 BRZ that I hardly ever drive. I should be top tier based on age, family, credit, and driving history, etc.

The quote I got was from Farmers..

Anyone have a good, reasonable insurance company they can recommend?

I'm with Allstate.
Around $850 every 6 months for the FR-S and an old Civic (no collision on the Civic)

Could probably do better.

I think I liked the look of Geico a while back but losing the multiple policy discounts made it not make sense to change.

If you end up getting a steal somewhere, shout it out :happy0180:

I'm on AAA with 3 cars (12 Terrain, 13 BRZ, 02 WRX)... all vehicles have collision and comprehensive coverage, and the price is well under 1k / 6 mo.

I also have Homeowners Insurance through them, so there is some sort of multiple policy discount.

BTW, car insurance in MI is heavily dependent upon where you live and your commute... depending on that you can see a huge difference.
