You can create your own maps, but if you have never tuned a vehicle before, I would not start with this car as a guinea pig

I recently purchased the Unichip and haven't received it yet but I was just wondering how would I gain access to the map database? Are there instructions included with the unit itself for how to access the database?

We’re making maps for all of the CAI’s… they’ll be added to the maps library as they’re completed.

There are two different SW options… the first is the download SW which is what this thread talks about. It’s a simple GUI to select maps and buffer them to be downloaded into the Unichip… the whole process takes about a minute.

This is the SW that comes along with the download cable. Once you get the cable, you register on our website and get access to the SW and the maps library. Simple and quick.

The other SW is much more comprehensive and allows you to do far more and become much more specialized... it's outside of the intended scope of this thread, but you can read about it here...

This is the SW we use when we build maps for whatever we're working on. bakerr6's caution is worth considering... if you've never tuned before, you can head down some strange paths and end up with a car that's not running very well. On the flip side, if you like to tinker, normally aspirated engines are very forgiving and "undoing" anything takes about 10 seconds.

Huehuecoyoti... what are you looking to do with your idle?

Cheers

After I installed the unichip my car's idle doesn't dip anymore.

Jack - silly question... Will the drag-and-drop software work with MAC? I have a macbook air that would be awesome to use for map uploading.

I think this is a good car to use as a guinea pig, cheaper to replace the whole motor in this than my last car!

This car would be a good candidate with some previous tuning experience, but I would rather learn on something a few years older and blow up a $1500 motor vs. 5k+

This would be great, could even integrate it into one of the Android Head units..

I would pay money for this...
