They won't be able to flash it, flash will fail.

This has been discussed MANY times. The counter the dealer has is different than the flash counter ECUTek uses. If you flash your computer back to stock ROM, the dealer flash counter will not be able to see it was flashed via ECUTek because the dealer counter only counts the flashes done by their own system.

What about checksums? How does it VOID your warranty if they can't even see it? Why do all the tuners tell you to flash back to stock? This type of stuff solidifies my belief on why Internet discussion can be bad. Too much misinformation going around. Not annoyed.. More confused.

I am not an expert by any means, don't know exactly how ECUTek flash works, dont know if the dealer tool would use checksum (ECUTek might save an image of your ROM, and when you flash back to stock checksum matches REALLY don't know just assumptions). My comments are what I have read from Visconti and him working with friends who have the Subaru tool and know exactly how it works.

Warranty can be voided by flashing when they try to flash your ECUTek flashed ECU and they will see flash failed which will then lead them to find that your ECU has been modified.

When I say "it cannot be detected by dealer" is when you flash it back to stock before going to the dealer.

I get it. I guess I'm the type that assumes my warranty is gone once I start modifying. I've always been the pay to play type. I don't like leaving my cars at dealerships.

I am 10000% as you. My car won't see the dealer for any repair. Once I started modding, I knew it was at the price of being on my own.

Well its not just an oil change. Its a 5000miles check up. And when i report the chirping and other minor abnormalities, they may want to keep my car. Thats why i wanted to know if they can tell if its been flashed. I am using logic but i just didnt choose to explain myself for the question :P

Ok so it went from would they notice if I have reflashed, to it was an hypothetical and I haven't flashed it yet.... to well its an oil change and a bunch of other stuff...

If you haven't flashed it and are concerned, don't flash it before taking it... Are you sure they are not already asking the question and you are just grasping for answers? Should we know anything else before answering?

I answered your first question WITH the information you provided a long time ago (see post above at 1:00 pm EST). I ask again because you now have changed your inital question completely, and I have again responded. If you haven't flashed it yet, just take it to the dealer before flashing it.

If you actually read what i wrote the first time i said it was a oil change and check up. Then i went into detail what ill be doing at the dealership to further help explain the reason for my query since you didnt seem too pleased with my initial question. And in fact i didnt change my question cause i never asked another question. Every other post was more information on why i was interested and to falsify your assumption that i was being sneaky or trying to "hide something". Just trying to prove that my question was just a simple question.
I was in fact pleased with your initial answer but you had to comment on it so i just wanted to prove you wrong @Sportsguy83
