The dry filter has no maintenance, and is a tad more restrictive than oiled. Hardly noticeable really, but if you want the most of your filter and don't mind oiling it, go oiled. The drop in filters and silicon tubes seem to be a great option for their cost. I went with the aFe though because I do like the design of it and all of the posts regarding it have all been positive. I also plan on getting FA20club's Stage 2 aFe tune for my car once I get my exhaust. FT-86 Speedfactory has a killer deal on the aFe Takeda intake if you're thinking about getting one. Otherwise, I'd recommend the Zeta/Perrin silicon tubes with a drop in filter. |

Either Oiled or Dry require maintenance but the process for the Oiled one requires a re-application of a very light coat of oil.
Recommended interval is around 30K miles but this depends on your environmental and driving conditions. Traditionally, Oiled filters allow more air to flow than Drys, but given how little power is to be gained from an intake on our car, this is really a moot point IMHO. Can't go wrong with either of them. Agreed with Matt above however, drop-in and some kind of tube would be the best bang for the buck, due to our car's intake being pretty damned good to begin with. Full disclosure: I have the oiled version. |

Larger diameter inlet, and smoother design (unlike the ribbed OEM hose) for less restriction.
