SPARCO PROADV SEAT INSTALLED IN BRZ

I'm 6.2", 38 pants, 250 lbs. I already knew it would be HARD to get super low in a BRZ with race seats and side mounts WITHOUT doing a custom mount to the floor.

I used the PLANTED seat bases and I will tell you these are the LOWEST you wil find anywhere. These guys are good, professional and got these bases out right away.

I mounted the Sparco side mounts to the Sparco PRO ADV seat which is a larger seat for big guys. Its equal to a Recaro Profi or SPG XL or Pole Position in width.

At best I can get maybe as low as stock in this seat. This isnt bad.....but I want to be LOWER and that would require a full on build. I dont plan to do a full cage in this car only a back half.

Dan in the pictures is 5ft 10" tall so you can imagine what a 6.2" person would look like.

Mind you NO SLIDER in this arrangement. We took pics to show anyone who is thinking of doing this.

So now I have to try other seats. BTW the issue I have is with my helmet on in the stock seat I have 15mm of clearance to the celling.

I wanted to be clear that the PLANTED base is awesome. I will try some Recaro Sportster CS's probably and this base will work with those.

IF you are 5.10 or shorter this set up works VERY WELL. Dan said this would be ideal for him as this is where he needs to be in the car.

FWIW...this seat is now for sale.

I have a similar issue (6ft 3.5in in height) with the stock seats. With my helmet on I'm wedged against the ceiling. I'm hoping to work with a fabricator to build some custom mounts/rails that'll give me a bit more room.

Kind of the same here, 6'2" and need my seating position about 2" lower than stock... With all the buzz about the 'low' seating position I was hoping it would be adequate, but nope it's not low enough. Okay for daily driving (still not ideal), but not so fine for helmeted driving.

Is there really no mounting and fixed back seat combination that will drop seat height ~ 2" lower than stock? I was thinking of going with Sparco EVO with available mounting solutions, but it looks like to get the seating in a proper position will require custom fabrication... Maybe I can try removing foam from the stock seat bottoms, but that's kind of irreversible 'damage' once you do it...

600.00 for the seat with side mounts. Was used twice in 2009 to test and set up a Time attack EVO.

Dan weighs like 200 and I think hes like a 34-36 waist. 5ft 10 tall.

And THIS is why I am posting this because I too felt that way and looked on the internet for MONTHS trying to find info. I can tell you this much: with the seat out and looking at this SUPER LOW PLANTED base with the side mounts at the lowest and the next to NO extra space between the seat bottom and the floor( .50) it does NOT look good for ANY set up with side mounts custom or not. Mind you I removed the Sparco padding too !

I am going to probably get Recaro Sportster CS's because it uses BOTTOM mount and then it DOES allow for a SUPER Low position. I think in that seat I will be about 1 full inch lower than stock.

The Cobra Misano S also is .50 lower than stock. I sat in the TAKATA BRZ recently back to back with a stock car in its lowest position and its for sure lower. Do I want a race bucket seat? YES. But I will have to settle for the reclinable type.

I will admit I am majorly disappointed because any chance of making this into a BRZ CUPCAR are now SHOT( for me at least being 6ft 2inch tall). When I have sat in and driven Porsche Cup cars( GT3 and 944 turbos) I am able to get VERY low and sitting low for any driver is confidence inspiring. So this is kinda of a game changer for me actually.

The ONLY other thing that I think would "help" but not by much is the new RACETECH seats position the drivers UNDER the wheel instead of sitting IN FRONT of the steering wheel. Imagine a C shaped seat that scoops you under the seat instead of the conventional type race seat that sits UPRIGHT.

PRICE POINT: 2500.00

NO FRIGGIN WAY !

Myles

Actually for head restraint race seat that is FIA approved....its not that pricey in comparison. FWIW...its been sitting around since late 2009.
