I wonder how they will go around that super GT rule about the V8 the most cylinder you can put on a GT500 if this will be V10? same problem with the LF-A V10 thats why toyota can't enter it yet in GT500

The production model was going to be a V10. This is a V8.

Honda GT-500 HSV-010 GT

January 19, 2010 by Peter Horniak
7tune

Honda has just released the final spec sheet for their 2010 Super GT contender, the HSV-010 GT..

And it looks like a cracker! Honda announced today their participation in the 2010 Super GT series with what was going to be their FR V10. Honda will take part in the GT500 series after saying sayonara to the previous NSX which it used until last season. The NSX was effectively cut out of Super GT after new rules stipulated that participating cars must be Front Engine and Rear wheel drive. The killer though is how Honda managed to wriggle their way out of the “Must be a production ready car”, claiming that the FR V10 which was put on the back burner last year is technically still ‘production ready’. Or so at least they say. What this means for us is that while Honda will still be able to partake in GT500 but we’re probably likely not to see the car in a road going form any time soon.

Other than the major details listed below, Honda only went on to confirm which teams will be participating and who the drivers will be. In total there will be five teams, looking something like this.

Arta #8
Real Racing #17
Dome Racing #18
Nakajima Racing #32
Team Kunimitsu

And the Car Details:

Engine Name: HR10EG
Cylinders and Arrangement: Liquid Cooled Longitudinal V8 V-Angle 90 Degrees

Valve Train: Gear Driven DOHC with 2 Intake & 2 Exhaust Valves Per Cylinder
Displacement: 3,397cm3
Bore & Stroke: 93.0 x 62.5
Compression Ratio: -Withheld-
Maximum Power Output (kw / ps): 370kw / 500ps (Or Over)
Maximum Torque (Nm / kg/m): 392Nm / 40.0kg/m (Or Over)
Throttle Control: Mechanical
Fuel Supply System: Honda PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection)
Lubrication: Dry Sump
Gasoline: Unleaded Premium Gas
Length: 4675mm
Width: 2000mm
Height: -Withheld-
Weight: 1100kg (or over)
Transmission: Constant Mesh
Shift Method: Steering Wheel Paddle Shift
Steering: Electric Power Assisted Rack & Pinion (EPS)
Tyres Front: 330/40 18”
Tyres Rear: 330/45 17”
Brakes: Ventilated Hydraulic System
Suspension: Front & Rear Double Wishbone
Stabilizer: Front & Rear Torsion Bars

Oh and if you’re wondering what the HSV stands for, its for Honda Sports Velocity.

They should change the rule to "currently mass produced vehicles available for public use".

It would force Honda to actually make a neat car again.

Even though Honda scrapped their entire RWD program, it's good to see all the R & D they went through didn't go to waste. I mean, it's not like alot of us could afford it anyway. Good to see it doing something.
