My Parents bought me my first car... I just got done paying them back last year. no need to be fibbn! Not bad for a 17 year old though! (I say that about your teacher because I work for a school district and he would be fired over here for that)

Bring on the video!
If my teacher sees us doing anything unsafe we get kicked out of class when it comes to safety he's anal! He was wearing gloves but took them off to get a better angle. He wore them the rest of the time. My class is his advanced class. We've had that class for 2 or more year. We know everything about safety. And I live with my parents so I had no bill. I just saved up for a few months. I didn't have a big down payment witch is why my payments are so high. And yeah obviously the car is under my dads name. But my dad only payed for one month because I was struggling with family problems/work/school and I'm paying him back for that tomorrow when i get paid. I turn 18 in 2 months. My sister is going to help me start building my credit and lead me in the right detection so I can transfer the finance and get the car under my name. So I guess you can say he's helping me by getting the lease but I'm still paying for the car with my hard earned money.

Same thing I did with my first car payment. You should have co-signed on the loan, that way your name may not be on the title, but all those payments you are making would still be doing something for your credit

Awesome job man! For sure keep up the good work.

And to those asking about payments and insurance, when I was 17 I had a solid job almost even making more than I do now. My car back in the day was a 2004 BMW M3 that I paid everything for. It's not hard if you're dedicated and want to work.

Good for you man, I remember when I was your age (almost 20 years ago) and doing similar stuff on my cars. It's a great way to learn with hands-on experience and trial and error.

So there is no muffler anymore, it must be loud I am guessing. What size piping did you use? Looks to be maybe 2.75" OD? You'll actually be surprised that going with bigger piping on these cars for exhaust can make less hp on the dyno. If you go with 2 3/8" or 2.5" OD you might see a little gain in tq/hp. Also just a side note, that when you eliminate the muffler it actually affects the rear diffuser/under aero of the car. The stock muffler was designed to flow air through the rear diffuser. Now that you don't have a muffler, there is a large area under the bumper there that acts like a parachute and will actually create rear-lift at higher speeds, which can unsettle the rear on the track/canyons. You can maybe undertake a new project though for your class and fabricate a piece of sheet metal from the differential to the diffuser so that it directs to air properly again
Something like this...

Also, looks to be mild-steel piping? If that's the case, some Jet hot paint for exhausts will protect it from rust, or you could ceramic coat everything, otherwise you might see everything starting to rust in a couple months...

It's for a WRX, unfortunately. Voltex makes it.

This is exactly what I'm planning for my exhaust, +1 on a video as well! Also, did you keep the front pipe/resonator/cat or a certain amount of stock piping?

Thats the way to do it man! Get that credit young! Just don't abuse credit cards. Only buy stuff if you save or can afford it. Building large portions of debt at your age is a bad choice unless its a cool car like a FRS of course! People will not hate on you if your making payments on your baby. Give yo parents some credit where they deserve it video!!

Good on you guys for taking responsibility at a young age. I bought a new car at the same age but back then it was a Honda CRX Si in 1988. With inflation and everything else, it probably comes out to about the same cost as an FRS today. I was making 4 bucks an hour but I was paying for my own new car, insurance, gas, and maintenance.

You definitely enjoy it more and you'll treat it much better. Kudos!

Good job on the exhaust too! I didn't fabricate my own back then so you got one up on me.
