I work with two brz owners that did the same thing. Many people feel because the car was designed by Toyota it is a Toyota no matter what badge they bought it with. It is another personal preference thing I'm fine with it being a scion and put it in big bold letters on the side.

Edit: also the brz is the lesser model in most countries that sell the gt86 with no touch screen radio or some of the other features. I have also heard something about them being tuned down some places to make less hp not sure how true that is or if it is being compared to the trd version. People in the USA want the gt86 so they buy the extras install them and change the badge all personal preference.

If im not mistaken, the japan toyota has 3 less hp, probably some legal technicality, i know the supra/skyline etc were all rated at lower hp in japan too

I heard one of them was tuned down I thought it was in the UK but I wasn't sure which one and where or if they where comparing it to a model with trd options on it. And yeah probably some emissions issue I know Japan is very strict on what they allow on the road kinda like California

Oh yeah and I highly doubt anyone ever got in it not knowing and said man feels like it's about 3 HP less. That little bit would not even be noticeable

Then again, I think it has more to do with the badge than anything else.
don't care about any of the "lux" items, but HIDs? That's a safety item to me. I like seeing where the f*ck I'm going. If you don't care for HIDs, it's cuz you've never owned a car with them.

And I'm not talking about a $40 ebay kit. I'm talking a factory HID setup.

JUST a side note/opinion

I bought a PnP hid kit off one of the vendors on here, and in the frs stock projector housings, they seem to my naked eyes to be just as good if not a little better than the factory HIDs on my previous lexus

True, but then again, why are so many people so quick to throw any mod at their car that'll add 3HP?

Idk my exhaust the greddy sp elite was far from the best numbers for HP or torque but I like the way it sounds I think my injen intake still has the best but I just liked it so I got it not for the little tiny bit of power it might add. For me the car is fine for what I plan to do with it.

In my experience, those are the same people that claim hp gains w no proof other than butt dyno... I did a muffler delete because i like to hear the car, and the stock tips looked way too small for the rear bumper in my opinion. I dont claim hp/mpg gains nor do i assume they are there. I do plan to add a 100hp with a NOS sticker in my window though, cant wait!
