Took delivery of FRS (Asphalt)!!

Ordered in September (MT)... took delivery today!! Whooo hooo!

Honestly, I don't understand most of the complaints I've read over the months... 'out of the box' this is one helluva car! Got the iPhone connected in 30 seconds (w/o having to read the manual)... after a bit of experimenting with the engage point... get out smoothly in 1st gear.. only chirped the rear tires once. (OK... maybe twice) :-)

Of course I'm taking it easy until I get some miles on it... but even with a small number of quasi-fast sprints through some back roads... the handling is amazing... (reminds me of S2000) the smile on my face is still there... hours after putting the puppy in the garage.

Arm rest?? Not really thinking this is a necessity... both hands on a great steering wheel... or right hand working the shifter... I'll probably withhold judgement on shelling out $$ for an arm rest.

Cup holders are indeed a joke... too small, too far back to be of any real use... no worries.. I don't think sipping a latte is a priority when driving this jewel! Bottle holders in doors are nice.

And.. this puppy gather's lookie-loos... this is just a sweet looking unit. And for under $25K... unreal.

I am one happy camper and glad to officially join the ranks of FRS owners.

Now... time to start thinking of some 'essential' mods...

#1 was to put the 4" Perrin antenna on...

Congratulations. I just picked up my Asphalt MT as well. I guess I got lucky because the dealership I used was able to swap the firestorm they had coming for an asphalt. From deposit to delivery was less than two weeks.

Under $25k? Did they still give you the old $24,955 pricing instead of the 2013 $25,255?

It's funny. I never see asphalt FRS's around at dealers or on the road, but it seems like so many people on this forum have that color.

Welcome to the club!

Welcome to the club!
Just the opposite for me. I drive an asphalt FR-S, I've seen 2 other asphalts 1 whiteout and 1 raven on the road. And one of the guys with an asphalt lives in my neighborhood.

My first choice was whiteout, but I have been seduced by the good looks of the asphalt since I got it.

@ OP: Congrats on your sweet new ride and welcome to the club!

Congrats!! Lucky you, when I went to buy my car last year, getting an asphalt was impossible. The dealership told me I would have to wait 4 months and they make only 7% of all FRS's output in asphalt with majority of them in Auto configurations. I ended up with a whiteout version Asphalt rocks!

I was a little bummed b/c I had asked to NOT have the front license plate holder installed (i.e., drill the front) and then found that the holder had been installed during PDI. Then... upon closer inspection found that the holes they drilled were in the grill, not the bumper cover... so... took that off (for the time being). I have a Kinzo bracket and will install that if I get nailed for no front plate.

Congrats on your beautiful color choice. I wanted an Asphalt one but couldn't wait and ended up getting Argento.

The same thing happened to me with the front plate. If they had drilled into the bumper instead of the grill that would have been a deal breaker.
