How are your Fins holding up? I received and installed today the BeatSonic and there is a huge difference in tape used. If you guys are still having problems, maybe you guys/gals can contact beatsonic to see what tape they are using.

Nothing new to report. Still a gap in the seal.

I just received mine in the mail today. There are definitely ridges around the 3M tape...

I will hold off from installing until the days get warmer for proper adhesion bonding...
@Sportsguy83 you tossed the VG one away for a BeatSonic?

I tried really hard to make it work, VG sent me replacement tape, same issue, VG sent me a different type Fin, same issue. At the end I returned it for full refund and bought the BeatSonic.

I will say this. VG had great customer service with me and I am grateful for that.

@Sportsguy83 The gap in the front reopened, I contacted VG they said they will send a new mounting gasket over, so I am waiting on that.

Yeah the Beatsonic one seems to seal really well from what I've seen and I like how they have a rubber surrounding. If the VG fin had that, I'm sure the sealing would be better. How much did you buy the Beatsonic for? If this one doesn't work out I guess I know which direction I will be heading.

Regular price right now for the Beat Sonic, $115. Wish I had jumped on the GB... and I had the chance, but passed it for the VG

I almost purchased the VG antenna but after reading the problems everyone was having I got the Beatsonic. Installed it a couple of days ago. Went on easy, sealed perfectly, looks great and the FM works great. Couldn't be happier

Usually, I like being different so when I see EVERYONE getting the BeatSonic, it turns me off and makes me want to find an alternative. VG Fin is very pretty!! But unfortunately it seems this one is one of those times everyone flocks to BeatSonic simply because it is better. I found out the hard, painful way!

I initially paid for the VG November 8th.... I finally got a working Fin on my roof two months later..

The VG fin IMO looks better than the tall and narrow BeatSonic but unfortunately this problem is kind of concerning me...

I agree 100%! Don't let our issues discourage you. There are a bunch of other people that have installed it and have had no problems. Hopefully it works on the first try for you!

Thanks, I hope so too! The BeatSonic fin has a greater surface area of double-sided tape if my memory serves me right from the photos... Very well made and thought out.

I think the 3M tape don't go around the whole fin to act as a seal but instead they do have that special outer rubber seal to keep the water out. How good does it do the job for you?

The BRZ Fin does not have the rubber seal around, only the FRS one. But I can tell you, the tape used is different and IMHO much better.

Mine seems to be holding up ok.

One question, I noticed how VG des not include any template on where and how you install the sharkfin, I mean I guess it should be relativly self explainatory but where are you guys installing it? closer to the back of the car or towards the front? I cant remember if I centered it or pushed it forward.

Notice in my pic I have left a gap between the antenna and the edge of the back windshield.

I think the cars roof curves more towards the back of the car so if you center it more towards the front of the car there's less curve, less prone to the gap
