I am also running A6s in CS, 245/40/17s.
The Star Specs and the Hankook RS-3s are definitely exceptions to the rule when it comes to street tires, but they are the two tires to have running in RTR class. From some quick research on here, the guys who competed last year at nationals in RTR were either running 245/40/17 or 235/40/17 Star Specs. You lose some turn in feel with a pinched tire like that but it's been shown people run faster times with the wider tires just like pinched Hoosiers. |

The more I read, it looks like RTR might be the place for me. I want to go with either star specs or RS3's but im thinking about tire size...something i can still drive on the street. So i hear go 215 for lower power cars and keep it light (Enkei's). then I hear wider is better any way you go. I had a miata and know what tire changes can do to the attitude of a car and I DO NOT want to change the way this car feels. I am now thinking 235 40... I just want some grip without making my steering feel heavier. Thoughts anyone?

If you go with RS3s, definitely get 215s. you want to square that tire off to the wheel as much as possible for sharp turn in. I loved 215s and ordered another set yesterday. Star specs have stiffer sideall so you cna try 235s but the Z1s are mostly sold out. Z2s are at least a month out

Now i have a new problem. Tire rack has my Rpf1's in black now but they are $22.00 more per wheel in black compared to the same wheel in silver. Is it really worth $88.00 extra for color? Anyone know if the black chips off easy on the Enkei's ? IM trying not to be a cheap ass but thats close to the price of a wheel alignment.

With a darker colour like mine I say silver all the way. With a lighter colour I would definitely steer towards black. With yours (assuming your pic is your car in hot lava) I would say you could go either way. The silver does set off the head and tail lights though and it really pops at night. I really like it. I'll see if I can find a night shot of the silver ones so you can sort of see what I mean.

Yes my Avitar is me in my Hot Lava. I think a black or gun metal rim is the way to go with my car color but at the same time I am thinking the silver rims will hold up better with all the mounting and changing on and off through a season and if I can save a few bucks here and there it will let me do more in ther long run.

I'm a sucker for darker rims, so I'd cough up the $88.

I do plan on running the new version of the star spec. I think with the climate in central pa and the North East, the star spec should be a good fit. |

Found it. Unfortunately not the best quality, but it might help a little.
