hmmm good point, but I'm afraid I'll melt plastic rings at the track though (like Road Atlanta 10A)! Is there any kind of automotive baby powder that will keep aluminum rings from sticking to the hub/rotor?

Frequent cleaning would be about it I'd guess. On my other car I used to get through a season of track days (6-10 events) before they got brittle enough to break apart and/or melted badly enough to be an issue. So far with 4 events on my plastic ones they are still fine. If you already have plastic ones I'd just suggest rocking them until they break apart

A lot of the S2k track guys don't even run with hub centric rings. You should be fine as long as you carefully torque them in a star pattern to OEM torque specs.

The rings just make it easier for people to mount the wheels to the hub. They don't provide any extra support to the wheels; you just have to make sure they're torqued down properly.

Correct, however I've had vibrations without them (on my S2000 in fact ). I run them because it doesn't hurt to run them. The vibrations could have been placebo of course since I knew the rings weren't there.

If only the OEM wheels were 6lbs lighter and an inch wider. This wouldn't be an issue.

You're right, though, it's OT, now! haha

Ugh, this car is so nice! I'm so debating the tail light mod, but I'm not sure I really want to go that route. I don't mind cutting them up, but I really want to try painting my tails red and then doing a night shade over that. We shall see.

The STI gurney flap gets me all emotional. It's so beautiful!
Maybe you or someone else knows the answer to this. If you plan to run lug centric (no rings), shouldn't the wheel tech mount the wheel on the wheel balancing machine lug centric?

I've never used a balancer, no idea how they attach the wheel/tire to it at all.

Installed my Vigilant Motorsports cold air intake today!

After installing and resetting my ECU,
First impressions, idles perfectly like stock, low rpm response from idle is better than stock. Very responsive and makes a nice WOOSH suction sound when you tap the gas. At WOT it makes this loud and very distinctive and very audibly intoxicating BOXER RUMBLE with a kinda metallic frequency to it. It's very unique and I believe the piping is what gives it the sweet noise.

After the engine was warm I beat the piss out of it down 5 consecutive onramps doing 1st-2nd-3rd gear WOT pulls and quickly became addicted to that noise and the power it made above the stock intake. The car just pulls harder to redline and I can really feel the difference the lower intake temps give. With a stage 2 tune I'm sure it would be nuts!

I'm very happy with the quality, fit and finish, and the added power from the Vigilant CAI and most importantly I now have plenty of room to run oil cooler lines from a sandwich plate, so it's a win-win!

I'll see if I can get a quick and dirty phone video asap. You're right the videos revving sitting still don't do it justice. Under load it's much more pronounced.

I spoke with Sean at VMS earlier and he told me that FA20Club will be tailoring a tune for the VMS intake in the next week or so.

Looking forward to the results!
Awesome thanks for the feedback and for choosing our couplers! Enjoy.
