those tires look more like stance meets redneck drifter(sweet burnouts in a parking lot)....
There was an article in MotoIQ's handling series where they pointed out that pro drifter ____ who was the hellaflush fanboi's favorite (I don't follow drifting, forgot who it was, it was an S14) gained significant car control and bettered his placing by going to a more functional setup. Who'da thunk it?

Stock body... very aggressive pull and lower then you guys probably will like. Shoot for -3 degrees tops f/r... if I can pull it even further then I planned with out it being extremely noticeable to the average owner I'll throw more tire under it... Plan on keeping this car stock body. Keep in mind, like I said my daily setup. Track days are a different story, I'll make a thread here soon of my previous cars to give you guys an idea of some of the things I do.

One thing I love about the car culture is the diversity of styles and setups but FORM should follow FUNCTION. With the "Hella Flush" thing there is lots O' form but function goes out the window. Now as far as our cars go slamming it to the ground with some nice 24lb rims and stuff might look good to some it will surely ride and drive like garbage but i guess it keeps the performance shops in buisness so its a good thing, right?

As much as I am a proponent of function, I can appreciate form.

Some of the prettiest things are all form and no function. I can appreciate a well stanced car, but it's strictly that: something pretty to look at, not something to be driven hard. Every tool has a purpose, and sometimes, that purpose is solely to sit there and look pretty. Think a bouquet you give to a lady

By having "everything", you are, by default, compromising. Extremist setups compromise by giving up everything to achieve their extreme.

Everyone has has a preference.

That celica sounds just like the fart noises I made as a kid. And how do you make tire beads seat like that?

well for those who drift, it was a way to get inexpensive tires onto the wheels you have

after all, they'll get burnt up anyway.

Fixed.

What does speeding have to do with this conversation? Are you implying that someone who modifies their car in a functional manner MUST be some sort of insane speeder who does 90 mph weaving through traffic all the time? That's a bit of a non sequitur in this discussion. Driving habits and car modification are two separate issues.

Modifying a car in the manner the STi in that article was modified makes is unsafe at any speed (Hello Mr. Nader, I just stole your line. Deal with it). Modifying a car in a functional manner has the potential to INCREASE it's safety at any speed.

Now, either contribute something intelligent to the thread, hell, even a well reasoned and technical argument disproving that ridiculous camber, lack of suspension travel and chassis damage aren't bad for a car, or leave it be.

Cheers
Nathan
