2 bolts and 2 hangers. I love the sound. I had the car valeted at a restaurant and he started it up and drove it over and it sounded way better than it does in the cabin. I asked if he wanted to trade with me his $200,000 car and surprising he said thats okay haha
So the actual muffler being removed does that cause any kind of legal issues? Also if you don't mind how much does something like this set you back? I have been looking to do something with the stock exhaust but I don't know yet what I am going to do.

When I say legal issues, I mean is it illegal to remove some of the emission control systems like this when it comes to keeping certain things out of the emission. The majority of the emission control is done in the catalytic converter and this does not touch that, correct?

Muffler does nothing for emissions, it is sound level and tone only.

Yeah exactly, and also MI doesn't have nearly the regulations that like, CA or WA have. Actually, im pretty sure the only regulation is sound and its no where near that limit. In CA you have to take your car every year to get it inspected with sound and emissions and there is still a few people on the forum from CA who have this set up too.
For everything shipped it was $422. Thats with the rear gasket which needed replacing on my car. Berk has a similar set up for 300 but it has smaller tips (the Mach V has Cusco 4" and the berk has just stainless 3" i believe but both have 2.5" piping) and the welds arent as high of quality as the mach v. I did a fair amount of research and I didnt want to spend over like 800 for exhaust since i need to buy a new car for my wife, want a SC or turbo kit and i dont have the time to install a whole set up anyway haha. For me, it was either between the Mach V and the nameless performance axle back (that one was around 550) here is a video of that one [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OO7CPMrlzko"]2013 FRS/BRZ Nameless Performance Exhaust Comparison - YouTube[/ame] . To me that one had a more raspy, "WRX" sound, weighs a bit more and it is slightly more restrictive. After getting the Mach V, i love it, it was exactly what i was looking for and tomorrow ill see if it shows anything on the dyno. I guess you could argue the nameless would be an easier exhaust to live with since its probably a bit quieter but i like it and i drive at least 40 miles a day, also my wife who isn't much of a car or tuner fan likes it..always a plus. Anyway sorry for the paragraph haha

I like the sound a lot. You recommend a website to order from? I wanted something to increase the sound a little bit, it has good driver sound with the sound tube but not very good exhaust sound and I really like the sound of yours. I ride a Yamaha Roadstar 1800CC cruiser in the summer with custom pipes that give it a meaty sound without a Harley blow out your window sound so I know my neighbors wont bother me about this one! lol How was installation time?

It is killing me right now because I am ready to plastidip my wheels and changed the tranny fluid and rebadge, but I am too busy at work right now and waiting for some time to get to my friends who has a lift. Maybe I will pick up some muffler delete and get it all done at once. Thanks for all the info!

For sure! I got mine from www.fastwrx.com. They shipped it out the day i ordered it. It took me about 15 mins. The old exhaust comes off with 4 rubber hangers which are kinda tricky and then 2 bolts. The new delete has 2 hangers and the 2 bolts. I know what you mean about being busy...i worked 80 hours last week and managed to install it in my scrubs at home before taking off to work again haha i don't recommend that but suffice to say there isnt much i have time to do with the car besides drive it and research things on my laptop at work.

What good is work if not to research things for our cars?!?! I hear you there, I am surfing the internet for stuff all the time while I am running reactions in reactors lol. Going to do some digging on this stuff, thanks for the starting point and the information.

How is the highway speed sound? Does it kind of overpower conversation in the car or is it comparable to stock?

haha agreed! Highway speed isn't bad its more depending on what RPM its around. Its noticeably louder especially around 2k rpm but like i said me and wife take it everywhere and dont think its too loud that it overpowers conversations and stuff.

Sounds really nice. I was thinking of going with the nameless because it should be a little quieter. Just as soon as I feel confident that the car isn't going to be sending me back to dealership for warranty work.

Yeah nameless is a good system too. I called the service tech at Subaru and he said axle back doesn't affect the warranty at all because it doesn't mess with emissions and stuff. That was another reason I was avoiding cat back.

Well Perrin measured it stock at around 168whp and I just took it off the dyno and with the exhaust and the drop in filter it did just under 183. So 15 whp isn't bad for around $500.
Definitely enough to be noticeable IMO.

Not sure if anyone is up for it, but last summer I took a motorcycle trip to southeastern Ohio near the West Virginia border and we drove a road through the mountains with about 400 curves in 100 miles. It was an amazing road to drive on, hills up in the mountains and blind corners over valleys. I am thinking about getting people together and maybe making a weekend excursion down in the car to rip this road up. It is a one of a kind road, the only other road in the U.S. that has more curves and drops is the dragon's tail in Tennessee.

It was a blast on the motorcycle. We are doing some other mountain pass this year on the bikes. I will check with my Uncle who lives there and led it to get the info on what road it was exactly and how long it would take. I will let you know.

Some dude today in a Kia Forte EX, I guess that is the sports edition, revved up next to me at a light on a curvy road leaving work. After the first set of curves I had to slow down to even keep him in my rearview mirror. lol Why would someone try racing people in a Kia Forte??
