I need to hook up with some of you soon. Still haven't seen anyone on the road but me and a blue brz that works near me. Starting to feel 'alone'...

Burnt rubber smell coming from under the hood!

On my way to Pavs Saturday I noticed a strange odor coming in my cab when I had heater on. Smelled like a belt but haven't had any slipping and the serpentine looked fine. Odor was coming from the right side of motor down low. The next day on the Mt. Lemmon run, with my fire extinguisher loaded up and ready to go (just in case), I started to smell it again. This time stronger odor. Popped the hood and saw a little bit of smoke. I also noticed a residue on the manifold but nothing looked too serious.
Dropped car off at Big 2 the 31st, but wasn't going to get looked at until Wednesday because of the New Year I called them up to see progress and they said the tech. had pinpointed the smell to the oil pan leaking. I though that didn't sound right.
Car was finished today. I got my baby back! The service writer didn't know what he was talking about, it was not the oil pan, but the seal for the cylinder head. Tech stated that the seal "leaked" onto the exhaust manifold. Their wasn't any leak of oil or coolant. Probably could have been worse if my keen senses didn't pick up on the odor and possibly blown gasket or cracked head. They fixed it like a blown gasket, resealing the head. I started to get FRS with drawls. I did a long burnout today, was surprised at how far I could keep wheels spinning. I actually had to let off because I ran out of parking lot.

Glad to hear you got your car back and the issue fixed. Also glad that someone else has a problem that I have not had on my car yet.....yet.
