It is ridiculous!! coz theres only 3 variants here. The standard version M/T, standard version A/T & the Aero version A/T only. It has the aero bodykit plus more red on the steering wheel & seats.

Standard M/T = P 1,550,000
Standard A/T = P 1,650,000
Aero version = P 1,860,000

*add 15,000 for pearl white

You must be in Kingston based on the height of the fence around the dealership. Such a shame but I guess Jamaicans are the type of people that find a way in if they really want to.

Actually as I said is the opening post This was a dealership in Montego Bay, Saint James my city of birth. In actuality I don't think breakins are very common here where dealerships are concerned. Car thieves also target mostly the more common vehicles. The ones they can scrap a stolen vehicle and sell the parts. Corollas are especially popular with the criminal element.

Sadly when I convert that Aero price to Jamaican dollars it pretty much equals what I would pay for it here, actually you pay a bit less now that I think about it.
The customs duty on a car in Jamaica is 100% so basically whatever it costs in the U.S. you basically multiply by 2 and listen to your heart stop beating as you read the total cost of ownership
Oh is you think that's bad where I live in Barbados the duty is 200% so Jamaica is the better of the two evils

Sorry I missed that is was in Mobay. I am actually wearing a t shirt from Gran Bahia Principe in Runaway Bay right now! I agree people should visit, but IMHO once in a year!

Is there perhaps a way to circumvent the tax if you buy slightly used and ship from Miami?

Well considering it is now 'winter' here and the temperature outside felt
like 30 celcius/ 86 farenheit today I seriously doubt the heated seats will have any use here.
Unless somebody wants to try slow cooking a turkey on the passenger seat...

Well the problem is I really want a RHD plus I can bet most sellers are not gonna discount much based on this model's popularity.Even if I did find one cheaper they are still gonna mark it up 100% inclusive of the shipping. I am sure I will find a 'way' when I am ready to buy. I don't have Jamaican hustling blood in me for nothing

I've spent a week on the south side of Jamaica and I have to say, Jamaica is the most beautiful place I've ever been to and the people there are the nicest to say the least.

The US is the most lucky country in the world when it comes to cost of cars. Every car there is alot cheaper (ALMOST HALF). I dunno why they dont get taxed much on cars when they are one of the most developed countries in the world. Guns there too are so cheap. Its like 3X the price here. Hehe. Very lucky. Sometimes I imagine what car I can buy for $45,000 in the US. bmw M3? lotus elise exiga? porsche cayman s?
