It's hard for me to compare my 27k FRS to 275k ferrari, but lets do that.. If I could afford the Ferrari then I would have sme type of feelings.. If I take it out daily I expect things to happen.. I'm not going to wrap my car in a screen protector, I'm not parking at the end of a parking lot just to stay away from other cars.. If its a daily driver then I understand shit happens.. It's the people that wrap the seats in towels, the paint in screen protectors and stuff that just baffle me.. I have a good friend that does the towels over the seats.. He says to protect them... Then why buy the top of the line interior if you don't enjoy it.. I don't understand it.. I like my car being as nice as possible.. To each their own.. I can understand the guys frustration.. I had my car 3 weeks and the whole right rear quarter panel got smashed.. I pushed it out.. My car isn't a beater.. But I don't stress over it.. I was pissed at the time.. Now idgaf.. May e that's why I feel like that over the whole car.. I wash it maintain it and keep it clean.. But if you don't want scratches and dents and stuff.. Then keep it in the garage till your ready to head out the the local Starbucks and be a parking lot pimp

Like this example and the one above.. I'd let the guy know I'm getting the plate number reporting it and taking care of it from there.. I'd get the car fixed and expect an apology if I'm around when it happens.. Shit happens so apologize and move on.. Be a **** about it and ill have your insurance pay for it

Well, than there might be other things that you really look after like others here do. Dont get me wrong buddy, I am not judging anyone here. Yeah, it is stupid to protect the seats, but that is your doing, but when someone does not care about YOUR car/house/kids/etc...then we have a problem.

Well sometimes you come accross nice people too. I had a lady backing into the fender of my car pushing it pretty badly inside. When I got back to my car, i found a note from a different person on the windscreen saying that she saw the person doing it and the number plate of the car. Also the person left her details in case I wanted to pursue it with the insurance company. Yes, I could have find out where the driver lives and give her a chance to make it right...than again I said fuck that..if she had the indolence to drive away, I have the indolence to make her pay. I got everything sorted and she paid (I found out later from the insurance company I am with).

People like that need to pay!

I got hit by an Alphard in traffic after only 3 months of ownership, and had my entire front-right hand panel replaced. While I can feel the pain of having a brand-new car dented, I can't say that the dent (which I had to look very hard to see) justifies saying that you are going to kill someone, even though I know you were exaggerating for effect.

I think the best way to sum it up is level of care/reaction to vehicle damage is on a continuum. Just like OP wants to kill someone for a dent there is another guy who doesn't really care.

Maybe it is tacky to quote a movie, but the quote from Fight Club has stuck with me because I find it really true. "the things you own end up owning you"

Sure someone damages my things I would prefer it not happen but I'll get their info and ask them pay for it. If they don't or it was a hit and run there are avenues to pursue and also you have insurance.

And I don't know how not caring about door dings and little scratches makes someone "one of those inconsiderate people that drive like assholes". In fact in my experience people who drive that way also over react to the smallest of incidents.

If you were referring to my statement then you have taken it out of context. The people i consider inconsiderate A holes are the ones who do the damaging of other peoples belongings and dgaf. Not caring about your own stuff doesn't make you inconsiderate, maybe to yourself i suppose?

I think some people are just more concerned with aesthetic then others. I think you are referring to a clear bra when you say screen protector. IMO isn't a bad investment. It keeps your car protected for minor damages for X amount of years. For those who pay more attention to aesthetics $500 isn't bad to keep your car that you like look new for so long, and they are nearly invisible. I understand where you're coming from though. My parents do the same thing with their furniture, and it drives me insane. We have a super nice dinning table that was purchased about 15 years ago, and from day one it has been covered with a table sheet and plastic covering. What was the point of buying a nice dinning table if no one can see it!? as for covering seat goes. I'd cover my alcantara seats if im sitting in them after i go swimming or if im really sweaty.
