Yeah, it is probably the speed that it happened that is so un-nerving. Didn't even need Ken Block.

Ok, I'll play. The big issue I see is how to keep their shape. The closest real-life concept I think of is dawn-of-flight planes. But they still had internal ribs and structure. Plus mounting it seems even more of a hassle.

But maybe I should ask for a bit more clarification on the purpose first. I'm envisioning a sort of vertical 'wing' with an 'inside' section that is designed to curve the air or wake on the sides of the car into the lower pressure area behind the rear window. The purpose would be to reduce turbulence in that area by helping to 'fill' the low pressure zone. This would extend how long air is attached coming over the top, reducing drag. The 'outside' of it would also serve to keep flow on the sides attached longer and also reduce drag.

Is this the concept (roughly)?
Eh sorta. Without a shaped surface and probably some additional pieces there isn't going to be much pressure recovery going on.

Let me link you: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post347315

So that's not really realistic because the top has weather sealing all around it. However, I did inspect the top and deduced that assuming there is some sort of awesome tape (I hear Gorilla duct tape is pretty solid stuff?), I can just line the entire first (fixed) section of the fabric top with tape, and then tape a second sheet of fabric to it. So far so good.

Now the next issue is, where to attach it at the rear? The trunk lid edge is easiest (tape to the underside), but that completely kills any tapering since it's a straight line parallel to the sides of the body, so no good. My idea is using double side tape to attach the edge of the fabric to the trunk surface, and then wrap the very end of the fabric piece around the rear edge of the "trunk", and then tape it there with something robust. Another possibility is to have a little bit of fabric poking into the front edge of the trunk (near the hinge), and then taping it down there. The fabric will likely flop around a little though, and that would suck. Still needs some fantabulous tape.

This will create an awkward gap between the original top and the new fabric overlay, so ideally there should be a bit of fabric poking into the territory of the original top. If there is this magical double side tape that is really strong, I can just stick some to the bottom of the original top. I've inspected the top and thought about the geometry of how it folds, and this is all perfectly compatible, and it'll even fold pretty neatly with no ears poking out given that I can tape on some string that ties together the cloth add-ons and original top!

All I need is some magical double side tape.

Wait, according to that other guy's photoshops you just want a cloth version of the 2nd gen MR2's rear section?

That's it?

Its because the scene was already there. In the mid 80's and early 90's, the golden age of sports cars peaked. Safety regulations were low, meaning the cars were super light, incredibly well balanced and full of power toward the mid 90's. The RX-7 FC is the one i would most relate to the frs/brz/gt86. The RX-7 focus was light weight, perfect balance chassis designed to carve corners like a thanksgiving turkey. After the mid 90's, safety regulations changed, cars became so heavy and costly as a result (as well as a couple victims of their own success, but thats another story) that they essentially died out in favor of econocrap.

The enthousiasts went into hibernation after 95, reuluctantly, to sit and wait for the day that the affordable enthousiast sports car made a return. And now, after all this time, it has. The scene was always there, just sleeping.

Please point out these enthusiasts. I seem to have lost sight of them in the sea of band-wagon riding poseurs...

Sadly, it looks like I won't be doing that. My friend told me most parties start around 1(which I personally thought would have been later) so yeah, the soonest I'd be able to start is at 4pm.
BUT I did apply to the Microsoft store! And I kept bugging my friend tonight(he's like one of the technical support dudes) to help me land an interview! Apparently they need more chicks-I can totally be that chick if they give me a chance.

Any ideas of a +1 job if this doesn't work out?
My hours are 6am-2pm so I have from 3-late if I'm able to push my fye job to weekends only.

You could probably walk into any tech oriented store and get a job. Women sell more than men by a large margin. I always promote entrepeneurial ventures. Take something you are interested in, and use that time to develop it into a business.

You are artistic i think, so you could start a clothing label, making t-shirts and designs at first, and expanding that. Build a brand name and grow it.

If you can program, you can make apps for android in that time, develop a name and market that.
