I agree with xdbuix .... mine a do every 3 complete fills... you fill also improvement of throttle .... I dont mine the "chirping" because in mine even people that dont know about cars saw it as part of what the engine is like...something normal...
Thanks

Subaru TSB on chirping

The attached TSB (from the TSB sticky) describes an aeration problem with certain pumps & fuels (sorry if this has already been mentioned--I haven't read all the pages on this post). Is there another chirping problem besides this?

I brought my car in to the dealer to reflash the ECM/ECU and had them check out the chirping. They ordered the HPFP for me. They said there's over 140 of these pumps already on backorder so it may be a while. You guys sure are keeping Toyo on their toes.

The reason for the chirping, as I was told by Scion HQ, is that the material used to make the pump did not meet specifications. Under heat, the material expands too much which causes the chirping. I assume this is from a decrease in pressure or air getting into the pump.

They stated the back order I experienced was because new materials were being put into the new pumps by the supplier who makes the pumps. If you recently ordered one it will come in around mid-January - February.

Do newer versions of the car have this? I bought mine right before the New Years and it was only sitting on the lot for a few days. I'm almost 500 miles in and couldnt find the chirping sound.

2k miles, I've had chirp probably since 2-300 miles, or at least that's when I noticed it. Once the car is warmed up. It's not right having a brand new car sound like it has a bad timing belt everytime I pull up to a McDonalds for a coffee.

I guess it's time to take it by and see if the TSB fixes it. Doubtful, though.

I heard the chirping around 320~ miles and i thought it was from trying to be cool and turn hard once, but im like "isnt the car designed to be handled like that anyway?"

But then i run into all these posts about 300mile range engine chirp.
The next day i check for chirps and it was gone, should i take it back to dealer still?
Today will check again after work..

I wouldn't waste your time until it shows up consistently so they are sure to reproduce it.

Personally I'm not bothering until some people report back that their chirps are still gone after they've had a new pump for several hundred miles.

If you want to, you can. The TSB is out there; therefore, Toyota/Scion is aware of the issue. You can say it is an intermediate problem and you have experienced it.

Two questions:

Is it a good idea to print out the TSB that shows a summary of the problem and bring it into the dealer so I don't get looked at like I have 20 heads?

Also, is the TSB for all FR-S's? Or is it only for a certain VIN range? I looked and couldn't find any certain VIN range.

I have the chirp and it's annoying as hell when im idle at a stop light or parked. I have about 1700 miles and it started around 800. Mine was manufactured 9/12.

I would bring it in with a printout. See attached TSB, just in case.

Please refer to the thread below. Under the first post, it is the third BRZ service bulletin.

My chirping didn't start until ~1500 miles or so on my BRZ.

I am in the same boat as others on this forum, until the issue is truly resolved I am not going into the dealer for a replacement fuel pump. I will let them know of the issue at the next service visit.

The issue is not a big one for me.
