Here's a suggestion, don't be cheap, replace your projectors and do a proper HID retrofit and you won't even have to worry about bending squirrel finders. Any anyone who drives past you at night won't hate you.

Since when is being uncomfortable removing the bumper and baking open the headlight enclosures being cheap?

I bent down my squirrel finders on my FR-S with ease and installed 6000K HIDs. They look great! I cannot imagine why anybody would want to go back to halogen.

My xB doesn't have bendable squirrel finders, and I do admit the HID install is *borderline* acceptable.

Also the cut off for my stock projectors with the squirrel finders bent down, compared to my retro fit are not even close.. You want HID's then do it properly.. It's not hard to do at all.. And it's been proven time and time again that after 4300 you start losing light output 5k is not so bad.. But I noticed a difference between my 5k and 6k.. The guys 8k would be a joke to me.. Plus it's so illegal around here that the cops have been pulling the posers over and giving them the fix it tickets.. Which I'm great full for since I'm tired of the jacked up trucks and wanna be civic racers with hid lights in regular holagen housings.. Spend the 150$ for the cheap route and do it properly

A retrofit is going to be technically illegal too.

If you do get a ticket for your HIDs (highly unlikely, none of my friends or myself have gotten a ticket in 6+ years for HIDs) - you can get it cleared within 5 minutes by swapping out the bulbs with a PnP kit. If your ticket is for a retrofitted kit and they deem your headlight assembly/projector/lens setup whatever isn't D.O.T. approved, well it's gonna take a lot more work to get that cleared (and then reinstalled).

Though, I'll admit that it's more likely to get a ticket with a PnP kit than a full retrofit.

Being cheap means not doing something the right way because it would cost more. You tell me, if it cost $50 to do a proper retrofit vs $50 to do plug and play which would you choose?

You need to take a step back and realize that plug and play kits are cheap, and it's a cheap way to get higher output at the cost of drivers around you.

If you're uncomfortable with a particular mod pay someone else to do it. Whining that you can't do something yourself and deciding to take the lazy way out is just an excuse, as simple as that.

And as for anonymity, anyone could easily search for me and see who I am. Next time read what I wrote and don't take things personally.

The next time a full sized truck pulls up behind you with blue HIDs blinding you I hope you think of me and why plug and play systems are cheap.

Barstow pd.. And it seems the chp in the area are getting very very anal about it.. There was a accident a month or so back.. Older lady pulled out in front of a truck, her excuse was she thought he had his brights on and was blinded.. She is suppose to be the chiefs aunt or something.. Since then they have been cracking down on HID's in holagen housings around here bad.. For our cars I think we could get away with it because of the projectors.. But every cop knows 6k and up are not factory and there for are writing tickets.. That's why I went with the 5 k..

I get in the debate all the time with the guys on gixxer.com.. I want to be seen, yet I don't want to blind people.. Retrofit or buy the proper bulbs.. I have 140$ in PIAA bulbs on the bike... I've thought about a 35w 5k for my high beam on the bike.. But jumping on hid planet and seeing the real data.. I've decided to stick with stock untill I retrofit the gixxer

I dont need to take any steps back, thank you. I will go the PnP route and if that isnt acceptable I will just go halogen.

I am VERY capable, just not very experienced tearing apart cars and not interested in opening sealed light enclosures, it's not THAT important to me. The HID conversion was an experiment for me. I purchased two 6K sets for $120.00 total including shipping. Installed them in both my vehicles. I also have a set of Silverstar Ultra for my FR-S. If I must crack open the enclosures to get an acceptable retrofit, them I won't do it. Simple as that. And, not because of the cost. It's more the time and trouble.

Incidently I tested my lights from every angle and concluded that the FR-S is very acceptable. The xB is borderline due to height and there is some noticable light above the cutoff. On the FR-S the cutoff line looks to be right where it should based on other HIDs I have seen/owned and it is totally black above that. I have never been flashed after a few months driving that way.

I dont whine, and again without taking things personally, save your condescending talk for someone else.
