Model year 2014 FR-S and BRZ speculation and discussion

For nothing more than the sake of conversation, what changes do you expect to see in the 2014 model and what changes would you hope to see in the 2014 model?

Expect

I would be surprised if they don't relocate the third brake light. I think the panel that holds the Scion badge would be a good place to incorporate it.

I think they could do a lot better job in the design of the rear tail lights to make them more compatable to the contour of the surrounding sheet metal.

The seat belt attachment to the front seats is a long way from being satisfactory and could be improved.

Hope

I hope they eliminate the analog speedometer and replace it with some other instruments.

I hope they eliminate the Corolla heater controls and makes the night time lighting behind all the instruments the same color.

I hope they eliminate some of the fake stuff on the outside appearance. If you make something that looks like a ventilator, make it a real ventilator and not fake like it presently is on the front fenders and the front fascia.

I think history has shown that the designers of most new model cars hold back on some of their design ideas so they can do as much as they can to make the new model year more appealing. It's a lot to look forward to but if they did these things I'd sure be talking trade with them.

It's ok, because you have a sweet Snoopy pic for an avatar.

I see marginal power boosts, most of the discussion will be about "cleaning up" the driving experience. So some work on suspension, possibly different rim/tire set up and factory tuning to remove the tq dip a little. Also see some interior changes in terms of options.

maybe a new spoiler choice? high end model with HID's as a possibility.

personally i dont think the 2014 model is going to be too different from the current model, however the 2015 model might be a different story.

I don't think they can legally remove the analog speedo. It'd be nice but I don't think it's going to happen.

I'll guarantee no changes to the exterior will be made, until the mid-cycle refresh. It's WAY too expensive to retool when there is clearly no lack of demand for the current model.

Doesn't the civic Si have a digital speedometer only?

Drove an egg-shaped Civic recently, definitely no analog speedo.

What's wrong with an analog speedo? I like 'em. They're charming.

The FR-S analog speedo is pointless with too many numbers. The needle barely moves.

I think for '14, there were talks of some minor engine tweaks but overall I would expect more available options; fogs, pushstart...

I never look at it. Beyond that, the spacing between speeds is ridiculous. 60MPH isn't close to where it should be to be a meaningful input.
