SLK 250 base price in Canada $51900 +++. Good luck getting one without adding another $6-10K for options.

A former cooworker of mine's sister is married to an NHL player (Raffi Torres), and we went for a spin in the wife's SLK. Way classier interior than a Miata!

Compared with FR-S:

0-60 MPH 6.2 sec

anyone cares to explain how this is possible? slower 0-60.. slower trap speed but yet still have the same 1/4 mile time?

Supra better have 500HP minimum...you forget that the Supra will be competing with the other Japanese juggernaut, the Nissan GT-R. The LFA was an exercise to show that japan can engineer a true supercar that can compete with cars like Lamborghini and Ferrari (personally I feel the LFA is a soulless car and would take either Italian over it any day of the week).

The Supra should be aimed at the "almost a supercar" segment just like the GT-R, hell the original supra competed against the GT-R and RX-7 and 300ZX TT which all shared similar price tags...now a days the only Japanese car that stuck to it's guns is the GT-R.

So in my opinion, the Supra had better be a 500HP monster that is capable of standing up to Godzilla or it will become a second rate also ran with no legs to stand on, because at the $60k+ arena, there's a lot of cars to compete against, and I don't think the Supra title will be enough to make the car desirable.

anybody who is telling us what the supra will or has to be is incredibly short sighted. using the previous competition as a metric for pricing, it stands to sell for somewhere between 30k and upwards of 100k. using the historical competition for power levels would put it somewhere between 240hp and 540hp.

This is wrong. I was just at a dealership that had a black LFA on the floor, for sale. 2 days ago, unless you bought it. LOL

i meant like a change in acceleration. the frs probably loses a lot off the line because of the tires. and then it might run out of steam toward the end. with all that said, it could be making up for both of those things between the beginning and end (i mean it has to)

Im thinking the gearing is the most significant reason...

Also, do those specs come from the same source (a side by side comparison)?

And remember nobody buys the GT-R. The sales are abyssmal.

Why sales so low? Because it's too stupidly expensive, it sure is fast though!

Pretty sure almost every one of the GT-R's produced sold. In fact Nissan made more GT-R's in 2011 than 2010. So up to but not including the 2012 MY 5,435 cars were made...the only sales figures i found showed up to the end of December 2010 with 4,153 sold up to that point. The car is intended to be rare and sells perfectly fine at it's price point. The Supra should fill that niche as well, we already have an affordable sports car in the FR-S/BRZ which will no doubt receive TRD/STi versions bumping performance up. Then they will have the entry level sports car in the MR2 successor. Toyota needs a sports car to compete with the likes of Corvette, Porsche, Nissan GT-R, Viper, etc.

Of course I could be completely wrong and they'll target it as a Grand Touring car and compete with the M3 coupe, C63, and Toyota's own IS-F.
