There's probably a map for an otherwise stock car, there are likely to be gains over stock as well... not as much as with a few breathing mods, but gains none the less

They uploaded 5 tunes for mine from the factory and sent them to me. you can download future maps from their site, and I'm going to try and get a sections et up so that tuners taht are tuning the cars can provide their tunes online as a baseline for others. I like the product and really want to see it do well.

The install instructions are on their website here:

http://www.unichip.us/system/uploads...structions.pdf

It's just a matter of unplugging some existing sensors, plugging the unichip harness in their place, and then plugging the factory harness plugs into additional plugs on the unichip harness. The Unichip itself is taped to the top of the fuse box.

Also as mentioned in the latest Visconti thread regarding boost control via Ecutek

Quote:
Wastegate duty control for boost or airflow error (Boost control for naturally aspirated vehicles by re-purposing the Carbon Purge Canister solenoid as used on our Supercharged BRZ prototype
So they are re-using the purge solenoid for closed-loop boost control.

So basically I have 2 remaining questions about this...

1- Can this turn off a CEL for no cat?
2- Do you have E85 already?

IIRC the answer for both is no, but E85 tunes are coming soon...?

I hate to say it but for the money I'll probably end up buying a reflash from FT86 speedfactory for 92 octane for $225 (and sending my ECU in), and having them turn off the rear O2 sensor to eliminate a no-cat related CEL, then buying this stuff to make other adjustments and be able to switch to a E85 Map later.

How many maps do they have on there site? Do you just connect your unichip to your computer and pick the map you want and connect it back to your car and that it?

yes and no, ultimately you can download their software and then gain access tot eh tunes, switch them up (hopefully you spring for a flux2, it's a great tool) pretty much within a few minutes. I ahve not switched out tunes yet, but I will be picking up the e85 tune when it is released.

ECUtek is a great product, and I can understand you going with them. keep in mind you have to buy a license, then pay for the tune. it will also be the same way with any additional tunes.

I also do not know if the unichip can turn off the rear o2 sensor. I know you can load in a wideband to log afr, but I'll have to look into removing the code if needed.

IIRC you don't need to buy a license unless you wish to tune it yourself or if you wish to have a non-master tuner do it.

IE I can send in my ECU to FT86 Speedfactory (as they're a master tuner so they don't need me to buy a license), pay for the reflash I want, and then they send me my ECU back. However I cannot change or edit the tune at all... but that would be ok with me.

I read that and it looks like they have some really nice features going on there. The way that they are utilizing the "progressive boost" looks to be by bleeding the additional boost through the wastegate to the purge cylindar. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this can be an effective wayt o do it. I do not believe this would be a closed loop solution though, as essentially, they would be diverting everything through the wastegate as an open source.

I'm really interested in a lot of the features they are bringing out though. I wonder if don from AP up in Toledo has this on his car. They are really stepping up their game from previous cars they have provided tuning solutions for.

Hmm I was unaware of that. I thought every ECU had to have a license in oredr to have ECUtek tunes applied to the car. This makes ECUtek a lot more affordable. One question though, if you have to take your car in for warranty work, what do you do? I'm not trying to be an A hole or anything of this matter, I'm just wondering if you can send it back in to FT-86speedfactory and have them return it to stock, ship it back, then ship it back out to them to have them retune it.

This wouldn't be a bad option though if you have a master tuner close to your house if they do offer this.
