Is there anyway of telling if the dealer install the revised HPFP? In the TSB they mentioned that they revised it a bit.

Mine was finally replaced. I ordered mine months ago. Chirps are gone for now. I will keep this updated.
The reason for the chirping, as I was told by Scion HQ, is that the materials used to make the pump did not meet specifications. The material under heat would expand the material too much which causes the chirping. They stated the back order I experienced was because new materials were being put into the new pumps by the supplier who makes the pumps. If you recently ordered one it will come in around January. |

Interesting. The TSB mentions that certain fuel formulations and fuel temps can lead to aeration of fuel within the pump and cause crickets at idle. I know personally I had only heard the crickets once, and that was when I used fuel from a certain no-name gas station near my house.

Since ours has had the warranty repair and it came back, I'm pretty sure everyone is going to be subject to this.

Mine is past the VIN number on the TSB and I've got the crickets. Purchased my car on 11/29/2012 so it was on the later batch. Still going to wait on the HFFP replacement a few months till I know for sure it is fixed.
Going on 2000+ miles. |
