Furthermore, I have never seen a person who can stand fairly straight on the floor of a pickup truck... someone enlighten me, please.

BTW, I think the conversation was: if you would do it again.... do it again... but I may be wrong.
Uh, the guy looks like he is 120-130lbs. He's small. I was talking overall size, not just height.

V10 TDI...it's got torque. Probably a better suspension setup too; see that wheel hop on the Chevy?

Most importantly, it's got traction. The truck wasn't in 4wd and mud tires aren't worth **** on roads. He shouldn't have tried to jerk the tow line. That's what started the wheel hop that ultimately led to the loss of traction.

Assuming equivalent ability to put power to the ground for a moment, it is all about vehicle mass and grip. I.e., the vehicle with the greater product of weight multiplied by coefficient of friction WINS.

If you can get a jump and start pulling, and the other guy starts spinning, you have a huge advantage since static friction is much greater than sliding/spinning friction.

And some really great traction control.
