Sometimes I think BRZ owners look at FRS owners like, "lol, cheap asses"
While FR-S owners look at BRZ owners like, "lol, overpaid" But in the end, who really cares. I'll admit I did want the BRZ to begin with since it's more limited as opposed to the FR-S. But their mark up is crazy high, at least here in Cali.

I was going to get a BRZ, but the more I looked at both, the more I knew I would be happier with the car I thought looked better. Not the one that had more features (since I didn't buy this car for features).

Lol I saw similar comments with my Facebook friends as well. What's more, you had all these folks trying to explain the differences between the cars to help the prospective buyer decide which one to get, and they were off. Not by much, but it was annoying to see people throwing out wrong info. I eventually went in there and just told him he'd be happy with either car if he values the driving experience. He ended up with the FRS, in his case, due to availability and price and those alone.

More money does not equal more class (as evidenced by his lack of same). Having a BRZ does not make the owner any classier than the FR-S owner. It just means that they have more money. How much more depends on which BRZ they have too - Premium vs Limited (aka Sport-tech in Canada). I have friends with expensive cars - their car doesn't give them any more class than they had before the purchase of their cars.

Well, I just did a cars.com search for the BRZ within 50 miles of my Los Angeles zip code. 3 are available, all around 34k. I get 71 FR-S vehicles listed. There you go . . .

Pour Grey Poupon on the FR-S logo if you want class.

I had sooooo may people making fun of my "crappy toyota" untill Fast and Furious came out and featured the Supra.

So, just dont give a shit and enjoy your car
Easy for you to say - you have the GT86! i kid i kid. Jealous though.

OT:

I'm sorry but I think the BRZ (or Subaru's WRX/STi for that matter) has just as much of a boy-racer image as Scion does, like Mitsubishi. You want class, get a German lux-sport coupe/sedan.

....if you give a damn about that stuff.

The whole badge war is like 5 year olds arguing over toys. Does it seriously matter what badge is on it? I have no shame in having a Scion badge on my car. After all, it is a SCION FR-S, not a Toyota FR-S, etc. If someone doesn't recognize Scion, the second you say they're a branch of Toyota, that's all there is to it. If they say "Nice Subie BRO", you're getting trolled.

Yes, the car was built mainly by Subaru, but all in all, these are two companies you would want to build a car. Subaru badges, Toyota badges, Scion badges, or no badges, we're all part of the same family. No shame in keeping badges that the car came with. If someone has a problem with that, tell them to grow up.

9 out of 10 times the person saying this doesn't even own one. I'm happy with my Scion and I can make it look like a GT86 with a few tweaks without changing the badging. Everyone has their flavor of badging, whether it's on or removed, but swapping badges is just ridiculous in my opinion. If you care that much about what others think of your badges, put some Ferrari or Lambo badges on it. In the end, I don't care about what some other idiot says about the car. I love the car, and that's all that matters.

I agree with what Autoguide said when they chose the FR-S as car of the year.

WHAT ABOUT THE SUBARU BRZ?

But what about the BRZ? With both it and the FR-S engineered and built by Subaru, surely the Subie should get the praise? To that we say: no. And here’s why.
It’s not just that Toyota funded the project, but that the folks at Toyota dreamed it up and carried it through. Left to its own devices, Subaru would never, ever have built this car.
If you want to build the sports car of a generation, you need to hire the right engineers. Toyota just hired a whole automaker.
There are a lot of good cars. But there are very few exceptional ones. The Scion FR-S is an exceptional car. For $24,200 the FR-S doesn’t just live up to the hype, it exceeds it.

Paying less money for essentially the same car allows more money for mods. That is smart money. Who needs class.
