I Dynamatted my doors so I can say with some kind of experience that the door cards aren't hard to remove. As for the sound deadening, it's a pain in the ass since the cutouts in the door are barely big enough to get normal man sized hands into to reach all the corners of the door. As for an aftermarket speaker set up for the doors...unless you plan on running an amplifier for the door speakers it's not really necessary. The stock mini amp is kinda garbage and will do more harm than good with a set of aftermarket speakers. I run pretty high end stuff in my cars but have yet to do any real audio upgrades to the FRS save an in dash Nav headunit.

Also after dynamatting the doors the stock speakers have a bit more bass to them than without and actually sound pretty decent. Now I am chasing new rattles in the doors, since I solved the rattling switches...

If you are set on new speakers go for some decent pioneers, they sound all right, and I think there are a few that they make that are similar depth as stock, otherwise you'll have to buy spacers and do a little cutting to the baffle on the back of the door card. I run JL C5 coaxials in my truck and will certainly be transplanting them as soon as I figure out how I want my sub installed in the FRS...as far as I'm concerned JL > All except Focal...but I cannot afford Focal...well their bottom line stuff yes but the stuff competitive with JL, no.

I have 2 JL W1v2 4ohm with the new JL amp that came out which is tiny as FUcK! And then a new kenwood deck going in tomorrow. All getting done by Unique Audio! Excited as fuck!

No problem glad it got all fixed up. Sorry it took so long I'm working on an old 91 cherokee single prop and only one plane in the whole state was being parted out had to drive to Tucson and take the parts off myself.

Thanks for the input guys, it's encouraging to hear so much agreement on JLs (a couple folks I work with have recommended them as well). I'm definitely going to check them out to see if they're a good fit for what I want. I'm not sure that I'll be using enough dynamat to effect the output from the speakers, I'm only planning on a few patches against the door panels to reduce vibrations.

And apparently the stock amp is 33 watts. I'm not sure if that's per channel or total. I'll see if I can get any information by looking at it when it's light out. But I'd have to find some damn efficient speakers to use, if I don't replace the amp.

You can hear mine after its installed tomorrow. Ill be at the pavilions on Saturday so you can see it then and hear it. Also see my spacers with the pro kit lowering springs on.

Nice!!! I'm gonna be doing a single 10w7 with an HD900 throwing 500W rms at it...the other 400W the amp has will be split to my C5's up front and my C3's which will have custom enclosures built into the rear interior panels. The good thing is i am cannibalizing all of this out of my Titan except for the 10w7...just need to find some cheapo replacements for the Titan so i can sell it!

HD900

10w7

Me like. Sounds like we gonna be rattling the streets on our drives out with some booming sounds in our nice wips!

Well id still say the focal components are the way to obviously with supermassive having the jl's its a good fit. But for the money the focal 165vr3 or the line lower 165a3 is the best choice. Madisound. Com also has a set by HiVi that look very nice as well. With the focals you will need an amp but average listener wont need a sub as they do produce quite a bit. My tacoma has all focal if your ever in tucson your welcome to lesten to it, with and without subs. I dont use any filters on deck or amps as they have incredible corssovers.

Lol not any time soon for me, too much invested in getting the performance side buttoned up before i can start playing with the audiophile aspect of my persona. I just ordered my Chargespeed front bumper so next up is paint for the hood and bumper!

Glad we have such a wealth of knowledge locally. Can wait to see and hear some of these mods at the pavs this weekend.

I know a few of you guys Auto-X, but there is a NASA AZ Trackday at Firebird West Jan 26-27 and happens to share the 27th with Import Face Off that will be going on at Firebird as well. Good opportunity for some track time on a track that I could imagine would suit the FRS / BRZ pretty well!
