it rained for 4 of them and I drove my ever loving ass off the other six. 150 miles after work for fun? Yep.
It really is that good and anyone who buys other cars is a sucker. Ok, maybe not that harsh, but if you have twisty fun roads you need this car. |

Honestly, I would pass on this one just because I know a better deal can be found. We got mine for about $25,000 out the door and it even had the bespoke unit. However, this car is amazing and you absolutely will not regret getting one. I know that for a fact... Also, I was in a similar situation as you; convincing the parents to sign the loan, and then paying them the payments

i dont think its fair to look at the parts of the car when it comes to this thing. anytime you do that you are going to run into many more cars that offer both more performance and luxuries. this car is arguably the best drivers car in its segment so they get to charge more than others. the problem is that i feel that price abuts a the segment above it and sometimes those cars are discounted which skews the way i value the market. |

Can I make a suggestion?
Dont worry about all the extras like the head unit and the spoiler. You can put your finances into after market parts later for cheaper and better looking. Find the color you want. Drive it stock and enjoy for a while. When your done saving your nickels and dimes invest in the look you want for your car. Everything at the dealership is over priced anyway.

You have to factor in the driving experience and what not. If you look strictly at material worth, no car made is worth what you bought it for. There's all the engineering and R&D that went into the car, and a lot of R&D went into the FR-S/GT86/BRZ for the driving experience. From a cost standpoint, FWD is the way to go, so why bother with RWD? Because its worth it for something other than just the cost.
I would have loved for the FR-S to be cheaper, if it were at the original target of $20,000 I would have been lined up the day it was released to buy one. But things like the Japan exchange rate and economy drove things up so instead I waited until now to finally make up my mind and get one. I'm not regretting a cent! |

If I could vote "yes" 1000 times I would.
Asking people to provide input on the value of the car while ignoring the driving experience of it is deliberately ignoring the whole point of this car! I can't say enough how Toyota has repeatedly stated that creature comforts and bells/whistles were left out deliberately so they could focus on the engineering and driver experience. If the primary aspects of a car that you care about are fancy buttons in the steering wheel, automatic climate controls and a fancy interior then you'd be happier with a Hyundai Sonata turbo (which is faster than an FR-S BTW). If you want the best (new) driver's car that can be had for $27k then this car is worth every penny! Scott |

Just got mine yesterday, took it out today for first drive. I'd say "Hell Yes, it's worth it." I drove it on the same roads I drive my '87 911, and it was just as much fun, except for the rev limit. Nice car! I'm happy.

I've owned mine for a week and a half. This car is a pleasure to drive. I have had many cars and at 49 years old this thing brings life to the old bones.

![]() I love the fact that the interior is cheap. It looks exactly how all of the old great 90's cars were. For me this car is worth it because it gives me the feeling of what it was like to own a Toyota sports car during that time. I'm riding in a machine that has roots to names such as supra, celica, ae86... If it was loaded with high tech instruments or items resembling that of Porsche's, lambos, the lfa-if it favored more in the "supercar" aspect, I would have not a fraction of the desire for it. In a way I think the LFA has affected this car in a negative way. A lot of playboy front-runners are after this car because it's the closest thing they can get to tricking their friends (who have no idea about cars) into thinking it's something that it's not. I miss the days when the more than affordable Japanese sport coupe was the car to be desired. It was the underdog that the under-the-radar enthusiast would buy because they knew the cars had potential to beat out the supercars at a fraction of the price. That's the Toyota I know and love. That's the fr-s. |

I voted no. I love the car, would still love to own one, and can easily afford one the moment one is available near me in the right color without holes in the bumper and zero options. But for the base price of $25,300+ delivered there are many other vehicle regardless of engine size or which wheels drive the car that give you so much more stuff. If you look at it that way only, it is overpriced by $1500-$2000.
With that in my mind I would still buy one simply for the fact that the next closest vehicle in style and fun factor will most likely cost you $30k and more. It is by far the coolest looking coupe from $0-$35000, maybe more. Using that as your criteria puts the car at an almost perfect price point. edited to add: one of the things I like most about the interior IS the lack of bullshit stuff. However, if it isn't going to have tons of electronic crap, don't charge me for it. |

The FR-S is one of the few cars you can buy where most of your money goes towards technology, not luxury or convenience features. It is a pure, low-production-numbers sports car, not a modified compact car. I actually suspect that the first year FR-S was probably sold at or near cost for Toyota. From that perspective it is one of the greatest automotive values ever.

The most "bang for the buck" car for those obsessed with speed and power is the Mustang GT. 400+ hp for around $30,000 and 0-60 times in the mid fours. Hyundai offers great value for the price of comparable cars, and this is what you should get if you look at cars as no more than a commuting appliance. The Mustang GT is a great value in terms of raw horsepower, but they are a dime a dozen and lack the cool factor. They don't age very well and are only cool if you have the current generation. Anything older than the current generation and you look like a redneck. This is why I didn't get one, but there is a good chance I will buy a 2015 Mustang GT as long as the power stays over 400+ hp. The happiness value can't be beat in the FR-S. Take it up and down a winding mountain road and you can't help but smile. The car has just enough power to make it fun. The way it handles is amazing and cannot be replicated in the giant muscle cars. This is the only car I have owned where I look forward to driving to work in. |
