I'm pretty sure you can avoid it, there's gotta be other routes you can take (albeit longer ones)

That section between Exit 5 Bay Parkway and Exit 11 King Plaza is killer, especially those rises that go across the road.

It's out of the way, but maybe take the Gowanus/BQE/LIE/Cross Island and then hook back up to the Southern State.

I recently transitioned to a field based position with my company and picked up a 98 Jeep Cherokee to drive the NYC metro area with... no way am I taking my FR-S there. I wouldn't have liked driving my old 06 Wrangler around there.....

In the Jeep I felt like my teeth were going to rattle out of my head. NOT a road to drive while doing the pee-pee dance in your seat.

Just came back and happy to report that they seemed to have opened up more of the new section that they have been working on, so wasn't as bad as last time. But still not a good road.

Probably not. Whenever they open a section of the belt, they end up closing another section to do maintenance. I am familiar with the belt parkway all too well. BQE is just as bad in terms of maintenance/road work.

But yeah, sports cars make you feel every crack on the road. The BRZ, especially, transmits every one to my spine. My wife has the same issue with her Gen Coupe.

This. I cannot wait to get out of NYC! It was rough on my last car and it's rough on this one. The FRS can handle it a little better because the shocks are brand new, but sometimes you hit potholes that make you feel as though you just destroyed your whole undercarriage. On top of that, people in NY drive like they don't give a shit about their cars so you have to constantly watch out for people drifting between lanes.
