You guys are a being a littel harsh. As if you never did a single stupid thing in your life. I for one am human and I will continue to make mistake the rest of my life.
Glad the OP took the time to tell us of his encounter, and what we can expect if we dare try this.

I agree, the OP was brave to post the situation here, maybe others will learn from this incident. I am glad you were able to get your car fixed. I just don't appreciate so many people feeling they can do whatever they want and have someone else pay the bill, no consequences. And to say insurance is for this; try telling the insurance company this happened on a race track and see how far you get. And yes, since the car is probably under a loan, the damage has to be reported and repairs made. enough said. Moving on to fun topics.

Fast forward a few years...$100 says several people in this thread will have their own story(if they're brave enough to admit it).

My BRZ's resale value just went up a little more!

With all joking aside; Just glad you're okay and nobody was seriously hurt...

Next time, go to a more open area like an empty campus parking lot. That's where I usually drift my cars in snow... (And yes, with winter steelies... Perfect way to break them in )

I keed, I keed!

What matters is that you're okay! And that you hopefully won't pull dumb shit like that again!

so what exactly happened? you were stopped and floored it making a turn? did the tail come all the way around? was there no way to save it? trying to understand how the car behaves without having to try it myself! haha so what exactly did you do and how did the car react?

I just turned normally and half way through the turn I pressed on the gas too hard and the tail slid out and off road. Really didn't seem like much at the time, even getting out and checking for damages I didnt see any. I think all I had to do was take my foot off the gas and the slide would have stopped but I kept it on the gas for too long.

For most of those in this thread who are under 25 years of age and have under 4 years of driving experience or less than say 60,000 miles of driving time or have had more than one driving infraction (ticket), my prayers are with you AND with those who you might kill. Also, don't hurt any dogs. Cats are OK tho.
