Subaru BRZ JDM Exhaust Tips

Just got my exhaust tips in last night. I ordered them from Japanparts.com last week, and they arrived last night. I took lots of pictures for you guys that are considering picking these up. Sorry for the quality, i dont have a good camera.

The install was straightforward. There is a single 10mm bolt (it comes with new ones) on each tip, that you tighten down onto the pipe to secure them.

Looks great! I love mine as well. Just for reference to anyone buying them, you can order the Toyota part number as well (they are exactly the same, just a different box).

Great! Not that I'm expecting any changes, but did the exhaust note change at all?

If you don't mind, how much were they shipped?

Exhaust note sounds the same as far as i can tell. was about 150 shipped to Dallas, TX. I was surprised at how quick the shipping was.

They look alot better once you get some carbon build up on the inside.

Agreed. I didn't think they would, but now that mine are all caked with black on the inside, you don't notice the pipe diameter change at all. Looks more like an aftermarket full exhaust that way.

I don't know why they bothered switching these out for the US. The cost savings has to be minimal. Does anyone know if the actual exhaust is exactly the same otherwise outside of the US?

Pretty sure the exhaust is exactly the same.

The exhaust tips weren't switched because of cost, they were switched because of safety regulations in the US and Canada (tips stuck out far enough that there was the potential to burn someone).

The pipe length of the OEM axleback changes slightly USDM vs. JDM.

I'm not sure if anyone has actually confirmed this. You do have to push them back further past the bumps, because that is where the shorter USDM tips bump stops are. That doesn't mean the pipe is any shorter, longer, or different shaped. In fact, I would bet they are exactly the same.

Most probably you are correct, but I can confirm that even making them go past the stop, the bend of the pipe does not let you go as far in as they do on the JDM car.... FWIW

Mine go right to that bend, and they sit just as flush as the JDM cars. Is there something showing that bend is further back? You said you could confirm this. I'm not trying to argue, just interested is all

If you read the thread I linked, it was the thread of my tip install. I thought they were all the way in too, but after looking at the tips again, they stick out a bit more than on the JDM cars.

I'm not saying its an issue, I'm not saying its ugly, I'm not saying its not safe. Just stating there is a difference. I couldn't care less about it, and still installed and loved the JDM tips.

Edit: Revisiting the thread, it may have been just the indentation is in a different place, not the pipe bend being different. I don't remember and can't check because I sold them away. Either way, like I said its a non-issue.

Yeah that's what I said, the indentation is just in a different place to accomidate the USDM smaller tips. If you push past that indentation, they fit exactly how the JDM do. Which again leads me to believe that the pipe is exactly the same except for the tip indentation marker.
