Does anyone know if winter blend gas is less mpg than summer gas? For all we know it's the opposite. Actually, I think it is.
Your car is using the A/C without you knowing anyways; especially when you are defogging your front windshield...

Some people also like to warm up their vehicles and during the cold winter it takes a lot longer to warm her up.

Also the "winter blend" they call it, is suppose to be lower octane I think...to aid the car's starting performance in the winter.

I blame winter altogether.

Been tracking my fillups with the Car Minder app. I average about 310 miles per tank with about an average of 28mpg.

Yeah, when I first got my car, I was getting about 30-32mpg during the first few weeks. When they switched to the winter blend, I've dropped down to 27-28mpg.

Typical mileage for me runs about anywhere from 350 - 400 km per tank refilling when the light comes on (leaving about 11-12 L). Translated into miles that is about 217 - 248 miles and leaving roughly 3 gallons. Mostly city driving.

Nope, not my car...that's the first silly thing I disabled in the parking lot of the dealership using my "presearch" that I do before any large purchase

Hmmm.
Ok, found out it isn't the octane that changes... It's the amount of Butane.

Now that makes sense, one of the additives.

Most I've gotten between fill-ups is 35.6MPG, least I've gotten is 29.3MPG, with an average over 10,969 miles of 32.5MPG. Around 90% of this is commuter driving, close to what I would call the EPA combined score. Most I've gotten out of what I consider a full tank (at least 10 gallons) is 413 miles.

The first 7 miles of my car's life it got 17.8MPG according to the onboard computer when I picked it up. That was probably all at <5MPH as it was driven around at the factory, on/off ship, and other transportation venues including the dealership, probably including lots of idling time.

Check out the top post in my owner's journal for more details.

Couple of things that probably help. Remember it only takes a few minutes of zero miles to the gallon to make a significant difference.

I never warm up my car, I turn on the ignition and go. Same with stopping at the end of the trip. Car off as soon as I park. I also never use drive-thrus, never sit and leave the car running to keep me warm in a parking lot, waiting for MomHawk etc. If the engine is running its because I'm driving.

And no, I don't turn it off at stop lights when driving, although I have been known to turn it off when waiting for a train or other obviously long delay.
