all i know is my rx7 and legacy are USDM cars, approved by DOT, and sold in america.

if i searched for specific JDM parts, they may or may not be compatible with my cars without some sort of modification.

I don't really care where its built, all that matters is the original retail market the car was intended for AKA North America.

---on a side note---

I will be at the LA auto show doing a commissioned design study with some friends. If anyone wants to meet up PM me. I probably wont join any meets that day though.

Now I know why forums have an ignore feature.
I like how you forgot what came after that quote.

I know it's USDM but that doesn't change the fact that this car won't come with the same features, engine, tranny etc. My RSX says 97% Japanese on it and I know it's not JDM also but It's not a totally different car. That's a better way to put it.

From the autoblog article above: "none of the [subaru's] showcar's panels will be the same as the production car."

Hahaha, so it seems like what they will be showing us is just their concept, and the production spec is going to be different for every panel.

This car will look identical everywhere in the world with the only difference being left hand drive and a Scion badge.

It's not the same as Honda building a civic for the EU market vs the US market. They look totally different inside and out.
Uhh obviously Canada is part of North America. I was obviously talking about using USDM.. I've never seen anyone say NADM.

Some Civics were made in the US, some in Japan and shipped to the US. Some where built elsewhere and shipped to the US. (and I mean in the same generation/years)

All of those are USDM Civics.

Integra Type-R's are basically the same, but depending on DM they had different features, engine parts, emission controls, etc. All were built in the same place. They are not all JDM. There's JDM, USDM, CDM, EUDM, UKDM and AUDM.

Domestic Market is a financial term, not an automotive one whose definition is created on forums. Unlike the other thread, this is an objective conversation.

I actually ran across similar news earlier today on my iPhone app - CarBuzz about this. But it says something about the price and power and they are both way up there. Not sure what to think about this but take a look.

What he said. But I know he was talking about the JDM debate.

WoW why you no meet? Too busy with work for internet friends?

Man, all the cool people going to be there and stuffs. It might be worth it just to meet all you guys since this won't happen with the Tokyo announcement($2k hell no!). If it was Chicago it would be doable since that is within driving distance. I don't believe I can spring for a flight and hotel there. Not with needing to move and save up for a down payment.

I'd love that much power but realistically, I can't afford a car with a base starting at $27k. This seems like a random hp number, considering with all the talk of the last several months pointing to 200hp, an additional 60hp seems sort of a random claim...

Yeah i really hope its not $27,000. But I'm a little confused where they may have gotten this information. $27,000 and 260hp? I use this site left and right and have never seen anything that wasn't true. I, and probably half of us on here would be very disappointed with that price.

Subaru Auto Shows 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show FT-86 FR-S
It's about time: The Subaru BRZ concept (with real body panels) will be premiering at the LA Auto Show this November.

We thought that it may never happen. After three Toyota FT-86 concepts and one Scion FR-S concept, we'll finally be seeing the concept of Subaru's version of the upcoming rear-wheel-drive sport coupe at the LA Auto Show this November. And the best part? It won't have see-through body panels. The upcoming BRZ concept, according to Car and Driver, will have full sheetmetal, but there's a catch: None of the body panels will make it to the final car.

Fortunately, the production version will be making its official debut along the Toyota FT-86 and Scion FR-S at the Tokyo Motor Show the following month. All will reportedly have very similar sheetmetal and the only major exception will be the front end design. The Toyota and Scion will be nearly identical except for badging. The coupes will be powered by a Subaru-developed 2.0-liter boxer engine that'll produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 260hp and will be mated to a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. Pricing is expected to start off at around $27,000.
That wouldn't be too unrealistic if we're talking a turbo as I highly doubt we'll be seeing 260PS from the 2.0L N/A engine. Barring that I don't know what would make this car that gorram expensive. That's RX-8 money and they hand build those engines. Plus the car is bigger and heavier than the FRS/BRZ.

Where did they even get that information?

Yeah sorry but I just had to throw that in here. Its got me questioning everything. I really wouldn't be able to afford a price tag like that especially for a base price. Im really curious where they got this information tho. None of US really know the answer but SOMEONE does. Are they one of the few who know something we don't? Lets hope not.

Don't apologize, dude. It was a good add. A little different from what I've seen but not completely unbelievable. I'm just concerned that it might be accurate .

Like always, we'll have to wait and see.

Heres a little something I read this morning about that turbo 1.6 engine from Subaru for their STI cars (and a 2.0 turbo), and if you scroll to the bottom, they even show the plexiglass BRZ concept. Not sure if its been confirmed online here about the new turbo engines from Subaru, but I do know there were rumors going around about the BRZ being one of them to get it as an STI version. Makes those rumors sound more believable seeing how Subaru is switching up their engines for sure. This site just keeps my mind wondering more and more about the BRZ. First $27,000 260hp, now a possible hint back towards an STI as well...

http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2011/9/2...oming-7704950/

Forgot to mention, they also said they will be moving the high mounted turbo under the engine. Maybe to keep a low center of gravity?
