from the pics, it looks like the HK BRZ mimics the european spec BRZ. they both have the following that are exclusive to the european spec:

front headlight washers. JDM model doesn't have this.
SUBARU lettering on the trunk. JDM model doesn't have this.

the only exception is that the european spec is left hand drive and the HK model is right hand drive.

Whoa 3 series long wheelbase? Never seen that before. I think I've seen a 5xxLi, certainly A6L and A4L, mercedes ExxxL.

Sorry, I have no idea how the rear fog is wired up. Not a car mechanic/electric type guy.

It should have everything, and more than the local GT86. Yes, it has Subaru lettering on the boot/trunk (left side).

The 3-series LWB is to be launched with this F-generation 3-series, but only in China.

this whole "L" thing in china is stupid, some models marked as "L" longwheelbase is just the normal model with a "L" stuck on,
e.g bmw 5 "L" series is the same as my normal e90 m3 sedan that is NOT "L"
its marketing to the stupid/uninformed (sadly it works very well)
though i do know all next gen bmw models (except 7 series) sold in china will be made in china with proper "L" chassis, even mini,

OP: how is the engine temps? i know hongkong can be very stressful on cooling systems, early evo's had a bad rep of over cooking in the hongkong heat,

Sure about that? "L" Audis and Mercedes are visibly longer. You can see the extra few inches in the window compared to comparable models in the US for example. I don't know about BMW though, I don't really remember seeing many "L" BMWs.

in westurn countries with laws and standards yes the "L" models do have longer chassis, my old 7 series "Li" in new zealand was about a foot longer in the back.

but in wildwest china, the "anything to get a sale" tactics pervails. so lying cheating and missleading is not uncommon, YOU CANT TEST DRIVE ANY CAR" before you buy, not even high end ones, the only option is to be invited to a "driving day"
when our cars need a service in shanghai i mark every replacable part with a paint pen or sticker to ensure then do what they say, bmw wouldwide offer a 3 year 30,000 - 50,000km warrenty, in china its 1 year 20,000km.
sorry im off topic, had a bad day at work,

Can't say I've driven if very long distances in the day, but the engine temps seem to be OK. I suspect it won't be a problem given that I'm keeping the engine stock and it's not exactly overstressed.

Dodgy sales tactics occur here too. I had a well-known German car brand salesman tell me that the 2.0L turbo version of a car was faster going from 0-100km/h than the 2.3L N/A version it replaced. I asked him for the details and proof. He got the brochures and then pointed to a figure which was lower. However, he was not pointing to 0-100km/h but to another figure (I don't remember which one). When I pointed to the right figure and said something like "Isn't it this one, and isn't it slower?" he (without missing a beat) said "Oh yes, it's this one - yes, it's slightly slower" and didn't even bother saying anything else. In fact, he kept smiling, as if nothing had happened.

That brand makes good cars, but salespeople like that (i.e. who seem to think they can treat you as a numbnut because you can afford to and will probably want to buy the car anyway) really turn me off.

I'm in HK right now for vacation. I haven't seen a single brz or 86 yet.

Just wondering:
What kind of radio did they install in your BRZ and do you have a space saver or a full size rim in the trunk?
I wait also 6 months to get the 86 too

Wow that's pretty crazy, I guess there's not a lot of room but I always thought Hong Kong was pretty laissez faire.

I was out in my BRZ tonight. Mine is rarely on the road as I try to avoid driving around in traffic and prefer to save the car for the good stuff.

It is laissez fair in many ways, but like I said, car ownership is - quite properly - not something that is encouraged. It is getting so congested in Central that I think they have to introduce congestion charging, at least for peak hours.

Took some family pictures on Sunday. White Balance is well-off due to my using my phone.

Oh, I also now have the Milltek exhaust installed. Sounds great, and best when starting up the car, but if I were doing it again I'd probably still stick with the normal one. Mind you, I haven't really "driven" the car since I got it installed, so maybe a session will change my mind.

Are the BRZ and the 86 still rare in HK? I remember seeing only 2 86 when I was in HK last December. I didn't see any BRZ.

you must be relatively wealthy in HK to own two cars. must be nice to own a BRZ in that warm climate.
