Awwww yeah. Itd be awesome if that diesel makes it here, wonder how tuner friendly it would be.

If only the 335d came with a 6spd.

Pretty ugly...I'm so sick of cars that have great fuel mileage but look like they got bludgeoned to death with the ugly stick...why is it so hard to make an attractive car with great fuel mileage...oh wait, I don't give a crap about gas mileage.

based on how hard it was to find a 335i in a 6 speed, you'd think that more drivers of the ultimate driving machine would know stick..not the case. For so many, its just a status car.

My car doesn't have any loyalty to me, heck she'll start for whomever sticks the right key in her... Now how's that for loyalty!

The more I look at the Mazda the more I want it.

As for Diesel I just about every station I visit here in the state of WA has a diesel pump, they're everywhere. Heck there's even several in the Seattle area that pump biodiesel. That might also be part of the reason that Merc/VW/Audi TDI's are very popular around here (that and people can afford them).

Heck, just go to a donut shop or McDonalds or something that uses a lot of oil, bring a few barrels home in the trunk, filter them, and burn that for fuel lol. Everyone will think there's a new Krispy Kreme or McDonalds or Burger King on the block when you drive by.

If Mazda brings back the rx7 with the new 16x. I'm sure I've got plenty of time to enjoy my brz until then.

You earn your car's loyalty over years of faithful maintenance and pandering (much like women).

Not so much as loyalty, as it is a grown companionship, I am the only person who can open up my 86's driver door, knows how to not grind reverse, and knows how to brake ever so correctly after a raining so the water build up in my sunroof doesn't splash down my back.

Isn't diesel more expensive than premium unleaded right now? Dunno, the only diesel i would consider wore an Audi badge and looked like this:

Diesel is more expensive than premium but not by much and earlier this year they were essentially equal. Just spoke with my buddy who has a 2012 A3 2.0 TDI (I think it's AWD but not sure) and he's getting 35mpg city and 45+ highway. I think that's worth paying 32 cents per gallon more if you ask me (which is the difference right now at my local pump). There's also that elephant in the room when talking about diesel as well, you know the torque-elephant.

Anyway, that's what makes the SkyActive diesel so impressive is that it's like a petrol engine with an ultra low compression ratio, higher rev range and extended torque curve you get all the driving pleasure of a petrol engine with all the torque and efficiency of a diesel. But, this is only bench racing after all, I'll believe the skyactive-D hype once I've actually driven one... until then I'll just enjoy my FRS...

I don't buy into the diesel hype. Sure, most of the time I am under 3000rpm and a diesel would be "better", but I wind it out to 6.5k (yea yea laugh at my 6.7k rev limit) as soon as it's warmed up (the oil that is, I don't actually know when it's warmed up obviously but I assume it is after like 20 minutes of driving or something), and I would be pretty pissed if the rev counter stopped before 5k.

I'm just comparing it to a normal petrol engine or daily driver, not a true sports car like a FRS or a race car. My perspective is from a position in which I don't need a sports car as a daily driver as I have a dedicated race car for those thrills but I also don't want an econobox. So ignoring the propensity to compare the 6 to a sports car you have to admit that having a good looking daily like that, with a boat load of torque, a power band greater than 3500rpms and fuel mileage over 40mpg it starts to look like a damn fine every day vehicle and an ever better touring car.

The single biggest complaint I have of just about every car in the 40+mpg club is they have no punch, no "go", except for the TDI's.
