I've been looking at the Perrin pulley since they're so easy to install, but I've seen mixed reviews with the harmonic balancing, vibration, blah blah.
It seems like a worthwhile upgrade to do if it does not cause problems.

I'm on the fence about the pulley upgrade. I've read numerous reviews and how its safe and no issues, but it is still early, problems could come later if they're going to arise. Modern underdrive pulleys are designed to reduce the engine power needed to turn the accessory pulleys, but their original purpose was to protect accessories from being driven too hard during an auto race. Underdrive pulleys did not become fashionable among car enthusiasts until the 1980s when the serpentine belt began to appear as the drive belt of choice for car manufacturers, according to the Underdrive Pulley Guide.
In my personal experience with Hondas, when you put an underdrive set on, the alternator has to work harder to produce the same energy, the A/C compressor has to work harder to produce the same pressure, and the stock crank pulley doubles as a harmonic balancer. The aftermarket pullies are just machined aluminum, they don't have any rubber in them like a balancer. But, this is just one type of vehicle, it may not apply to all cars. All that being said, none of it means that the aftermarket pulley sets will have any negative effect on the FRS/BRZ, I'm not saying that at all. These are just reasons that I am reluctant to trust the reviews. |

I saw your ad for the Vortech SC kit. Will you guys be handling installs on those as well? Tuning? Not thinking of buying anytime soon, but might in a year or so. Thanks.
