The only thing I can imagine affecting AFR is a mod prior to the intake manifold- ex. Perrin intake tube.

Call me an ass, but my curiosity is triggered with this thread.
Does anyone know what is Perrin's intake diameter is? They were testing with 2 different configurations.

Do you ALWAYS smell fuel after taking out a cat? Or do you not smell it after a tune due to air/fuel adjustment?

I think the only Scion I have heard people complaining about the smell was the Scion xB.

Tony I need you to clarify something cause I'm a bit confuse. You say that "Overpipe, Front Pipe & CAI Tuned +19-21WHP over untuned results", but does not a stage 2 tune gets us 20whp+ alone? so what will I gain if I already have a tune and intall those on my car?

thanks

the best way to look at the mods you make is this way:

the 1st bolt on will probably yield the best percentage gains. every other mod afterwards will yields less if not minimal gains. so its best to consider the mods as a cumulative effort. so its not hard to consider than an intake makes the same power as a front pipe/over pipe combo. but when you add one after the other dont expect to see 10hp each mod.

But I think he is asking if he has a stage 2 with lets say an aFe intake that makes a around 20Whp. Will a Stage 2 flash, with the front/over pipe combo add another 3-5Whp after the car has been tuned again for new mods?

yes 3-5 would be a good moderate expected increase in power

I'm confused, how does changing the mid pipe effect AFR? Going catless will require me to get tuned? This doesn't make sense as there's no secondary sensor after the first cat in the header...Will this happen on a non-tuned car?

The secondary has nothing to do with afr function just measuring whether or not the CAT is functional. The mod itself is what requires the tune. Most pipes that have been test to date are catted versions. Which provide a variance in exhaust flow similar to the stock setup. They yield gains since now the inner diameter is increased as well as the chambered resonator. I already explained that the catted version will not mandate a tune earlier from our testing and tuning remotely of our customers. But the catless can yield more gains with a proper tune as compared to the catted version.

If anything I would expect a rich condition with no cat and the stock air box. No cat = a bit of less friction = faster air velocity = gasses exit faster the through the exhaust side = intake air comes in faster = MAF registers more air going in = ECU throws more fuel to compensate for the additional air coming in. I understand the point of having to tune the car for maximum hp extraction, but unless taking the cat out creates a CEL, then I would wait until everything else is maxed out.
