I think it will be priced a bit higher. The last generation of the Supra was more expensive than the Mustang and the Z cars of those days. I'd expect a new Supra be somewhere in the neighborhood of 15% higher than today's Mustang.

It'll probably be priced closer to the GTR.

If that's the case ... then it better be as good or better than the GTR or the upcoming NSX. I believe the supra should be priced around 50-60K and essentially be competing with the corvettes and caymens/boxsters.

The only problem is that it will probably be a hybrid, and I'm not a huge fan of hybrids at all.

Stop have the mentality of every hybrid is a Prius. Hybrid tech has been around for a VERY long time.

Let me tell you this! If it is hybrid it will be very fast with lots of torque. If it feels anything like a hybrid highlander then everyone would be pleased with the performance. As I am not too fond of hybrids myself I can not deny how nice it feel to be pushed back into your seat. Anyway I can't see them making a turbo supra with a hybrid.

I never said that "every hybrid is a Prius". I did say that I'm not a fan of the modern day hybrid systems implemented in production vehicles, and for good reasons -- it's a more complex system that will succumb to more breakdowns/problems (long-term maintenance costs will likely be higher), hybrids cost thousands of dollars more than their all petrol or all diesel counterparts (Why spend extra money on a hybrid when some conventional vehicles have nearly as good MPG ratings, and have substantially lower costs?), many hybrids have slower acceleration times and top speeds than their all petrol or all diesel counterparts, and they are not true zero-emission vehicles.

@Wes B. Ever heard of the KERS system?

Thats the type of hybrid I see coming out for high performance cars. Instant HP boost off the line or in low RPM situations and then let the gas do the rest.

It could be fast (KERS System), but it could also be a dog.

The performance from the Highlander Hybrid is nothing to write home about: 0-60 in 7.2 seconds with top speed limited to probably 110 mph. To put this into perspective, I owned a 2001 Toyota Sienna a few years back, and it had nearly these same exact performance specs. If the new Supra is like the Highlander Hybrids, I am sure that there will be plenty of disappointed people.

I love being pushed back into my seat, as well, and there are plenty of non-hybrid setups that do that perfectly.

There have been plenty of rumors surrounding a new Supra release, and nearly all of them say that a hybrid drivetrain is likely.
