i am confused as to why everyone seems to think the oil isnt going to drain back to the pan in this manner....
i have tapped plenty of oil lines back to the pan with no issues? hell most turbo cars built that way from the factory.

Because oil will flow where there is least resistance. If its draining below the fill level, its going up against a wall basically. I have never seen a drain line that was positioned in this way that didn't blow the seals on the turbo due to oil backing up the line.

i feel like it shouldnt be an issue as the chances of the oil in the pan consistantly providing that much pressure are almost nil while driving.
i would have to look at the pics again, but with this pan i am not sure you have many options as its a fairly shallow pan.
