Because the port itself isn't really the limiting factor, it's the complete interplay of port, cam, valve and piston. So if we shrink the port so the flow matches the capacity of the cam/valve better we can get more velocity, and possibly better low rpm response and some top end as well.

Well the issue with that would be that a smaller port might have higher column velocity, but then you get more restriction too. It's probably very much a trial and error thing.

What? There's a shit-ton of calculations for roots blowers.

The thing about port sizing I see is the focus for many is flow at max lift, which is stupid because it only sees that instantly.

What I would like to see is a cross between a flow bench graph and a cam profile graph (or better, some way to make my own) that can be compared. I could do a connect-the-dots type, but as for measuring the area to compare, I would need a planimeter or have to use dedicated software.

What I'm visioning is bigger valves and more duration, but with smaller straighter ports. So even if max flow drops a bit, the trade off is way more flow at low to moderate lift, and higher velocity.

Well you can read max piston velocity off a chart, it's somewhere around 90 degrees, and then you'd want max lift to be slightly after that.

Roots blowers have no calculations besides displacement and the speed you need to run them at, you just accept the leakage at low speed and then enjoy the more or less constant amount of air going to each cylinder, use the intercooler as a plenum step to remove acoustic effects that occur between different cylinders. Doesn't matter where the cam is, as long as it's not leaking fresh air to the exhaust.

Lol, that was one of those "Drive Your Dream" package things. My friend got one as a gift and so he got to drive this Lambo around for an hour.

All these videos that I am finding on facebook are making me nostalgia hard as fuhhhhh...
