I hope this hasn't been asked yet, as I don't have time to page through this whole thread, but to Scion: What are the odds of something like an FR-S release series being available with some of the options that are available in the 86/GT86 and BRZ Limited, such as keyless access, HID headlamps, and automatic climate control? Will they ever offer different seat color choice besides the red/black cloth? I am choosing a BRZ over an FR-S because of these options, but would slightly prefer to own a "Toyota".

This is a personal opinion & not the actual answer (but I'll ask Tada-san for sure), but analog speedo is kinda hard to see when you're racing/autocrossing, but having it in inside the RPM really helps, so you just need to keep an eye on 2 spots: Road & RPM gauge.

What do exhaust TIPS have to do with regulations? Its not modifing anything except the look of the car.

Pretty much what I do 99% of the time. The other 1% of the time, I look down at it, and I just think to myself, something a little more useful could have gone there :\

Once again, thanks for doing this! :happy0180:

I remember reading up on this somewhere, but supposedly, the tips stick out beyond the bumper and that apparently is against regulations here in the U.S. Don't quote me on that as I found this info on the Internet

In the US, or at least for some states, they can't stick out so that retards don't burn their legs and they have to be well muffled for various strict noise ordinances.

I totally agree with you on that one. I've wrote a review on this car (back in April) and one of negative thing about this car I wrote.

Question:
If the price was raised to $29-$30k what changes could be made to the car for pure performance improvement only?

I think it's mainly because in some markets with the low end model, there is no digital speedo to save costs. So instead of changing it out with other gauges or leaving it blank and making it look bad in the models with the digital speedo, they just left it. And maybe they wanted you to have a backup so you can't have an excuse for the cops that your speedo is broke.

In Japan, they do sell GT86 Limited ver check hit over that price tag... so I'm guessing you're asking this question to Scion?

Will Toyota/Scion offer the 86 HID headlights as an OEM option set to US specifications for FR-S owners?

EDIT:

Sorry, I just re-read the OP and looks like I was so excited I didn't get all the stuff out correct.

  • Scion USA due date is December 9th (When I wake up)
  • Tada-san due date is December 16th (When I wake up)
Sorry for the confusion

Let's face it, Monday night members asked about next gen Supra/MR-2 and they didn't get anything out of it, do you think he'll tell us? Highly doubt it.

Fine, no Supra. But please ask the first question about a street legal track focused GT-86 (for Europe). The basic GT-86 (unpainted bumpers, steelies,...) is only available in Japan, and even if it were available here, I'm not sure I'd buy it in my current situation. Here in Germany we can get the GT-86 CS-V3 for 38.500 € excluding tax. But it is not street legal, a ture FIA approved race car. I wish to know if any track ready but street legal GT-86, in the likes of 911 GT3 RS, M3 GTS, Mégane RS R26.R is in the plans or a possibility. I wished to modify a base GT-86, but I have no time, and now no space, thus my interest in a car that is ready from factory. I think quite many would prefere getting a ready one that building their own.

Thanks. I appreciate your effort and Tada-San close openess to the GT-86/BRZ fans, unlike BMW.
