@ichitaka05

So December 16 is the deadline? I'll see if I can get something translated on my own to save you some time. Might be long, though.

Is keigo appropriate for him?

TBH I think, this goes into Scion decision more than Tada-san. Hm... this got me thinking. See what I can do

I've being translating em to somewhat keigo, due to several reasons (he's older than me, higher up in class than me, out of respect & others), but if you have a hard time doing it in keigo, that's fine. He's a very nice guy, so I'm pretty sure he understand.

I don't know any keigo at all, but I can get in touch with some of my past students.

Thanks for doing this, Ichi.

Haven't read the thread, but:

If you were to make a handful of small modifications to the standard 86, what would they be and why? What sort of characteristics would you try and improve over the standard version?

Everyone that's asking what he would change, what he left out, or how the car will be updated is out to lunch. C'mon guys, this car is barely 6 months old. He's not going to answer questions like this, even if there are aspects he would change. It'd be counterproductive for him. Both from a business and a personal perspective. I really hope this thread produces some better questions for him, he deserves it.

Question: How was it, having the Subaru and Toyota teams collaborate? Can you tell us what was the best part of working together? And what was the most challenging?

Question:

Instead of improving the specs of the car like power, etc, will you be making the interior much better to make the car perfect?

Tada-san, first I want to join the voices of all the other members of this club in thanking you for bringing joy to the enthusiast driver! As an engineer, I have to ask: what was the most interesting technical challenge in developing the FT-86?

You've obviously never been to Cleveland. I need to record my commute into work every day. LA roads (warm climate, never snow, NO SALT) are a dream by comparison, I am sure.

Just trying to help here, but:

dictionary.com:

Quote:
con·do·lence [kuh n-doh-luh ns]
noun
Often, condolences. expression of sympathy with a person who is suffering sorrow, misfortune, or grief.
I'm going to guess you meant "thanks," or some sort of synonym for thanks.

While this car is only 6 months old, some of the questions pertaining to what his perfect version may be, may not even include performance addons or anything of that sort that could impact the impression of this car. We aren't asking "what is coming from the factory next year?" We certainly aren't trying to have him point out things toyota removed due to costs, or anything like that.

We all have things we would like for this car to have, these questions are merely attempting to pick the brain of the man who has had the most to do with this car. Trying to get closer to someone who has just as much love, if not more for these cars.

I think he understands that we come to him from this perspective and not to mine for information and no doubt would appreciate them just as much as a fun, high level engineering question such as what he had the most fun adjusting or testing and changing through the development process and his reasons for doing so. Could be anything from choice on the suspension design, to whatever. Though I remember the development video covering some of the decisions for the suspension, so who knows.

We all have those stories from huge projects, that one thing that kicked our ass but we knew we were so close to it that we could taste it and when we finally nailed it, it was the best feeling in the world.
